    Re: Gas prices

Just checked my standing charge for my gas and electric meters. Both are with British Gas.
    Electric 54.2p a day.
    Gas 37.5 a day.
£335 a year just on standing charges. Is this the norm?

I’m on British Gas standard variable rate presently. I’m paying 10.393p per kWh for gas with a standing charge of 28.485p per day. Electricity is 33.967 per kWh and 49.169p per day standing charge.

Anybody got any tips on what to chec like boiler settings or something?

            Surely this can't be right?

            With SSE by the way....
I think everyone is paying around twice what they were paying last year?

Gas standard tariff has gone up 141% since last October so thats more than double, and if you were locked into a good deal previously and now out of a deal it would have more than likely than trebled. Quadrupled if people had an excellent deal before October 2021 and that deal has run out.

I was paying £108 in total for gas and electric pre all these increases (and I was in credit by £150 for the year so probably should have been paying around £95) and now im paying £280 before take off the governement help so yeah, practically trebled.

                            Re: Gas prices

Everyone I know/ speak to is struggling/worried with these energy prices. Many are substantially reducing usage/ wearing coats etc in the house, living in 1 room.
Not sure it's meant to be like this in 2022. People will die.
I dont understand how there haven't been riots.

For some perspective the cost of gas here in Poland has increased 8.5x within the last 9 months & electricity has increased by 3.5x

Has your gas gone up by 8.5% or 8 and a half times what it was?
