  • Half a season

I posted this on the alternative forum by mistake, but never mind. Let's try again...

We've played half a season, and have 26 points to show for it.
If the second half goes the same way as the first, we'll end the season with 52 points.
Not a great total, but probably just about enough to keep us up.
But there's not a great margin for error. A couple of 'extra' games lost, and we're in deep shit.
Hudson may have earned more points than Morison this season, but he's had six extra games to do it in.
If anything, his record is worse, and he would probably be gone by now, except for the fact that he's only just had his contract extended.

So what do we need, to achieve a higher total? Lots of people go on about signing a new striker or a new midfielder, but it's the conceding of goals that's the real problem, and anyway, we now also have the transfer embargo to deal with. Anyway, after a great deal of thought, and a couple of beers, I've come to the conclusion that we need a proper centre-back, to play alongside Kipre. Nothing against Perry Ng - I'm a big fan, but he's not cutting it in the middle. Can we recall McGuinness?

Not sure whether we can recall McGuiness, but just getting our injured players back would make a big difference in my opinion.

Collins, Adams and Morrison could all go a long way to shoring up this first team if all fit and well.

Let's hope we can get them all back involved sometime soon.

        Defensive record - 14th
        Attacking record - 23rd.

Defence needs sorting more than attack?

We can recall McGuinness (Wednesday have been fretting about that for 3 months - all their loans can be recalled), but there may be a complication with the embargo if it is still in place come January. Bringing loans back would reduce the club's very limited room for manoeuvre. That said a right sided CB who is fit, in form and picking up Player of the Month awards....

If he did come back and replace Ng in a back 4 that would mean Ng (one of our best footballers) competing with Romeo - who has generally been one of the successes so far this season (unless Ng goes to the wrong side at LB).

It seems clear from Hudson pre-QPR that Jamilu Collins is totally out of the picture until the summer.

But if Morrison can find 3rd gear, if Bagan gets his mojo back, if Colwill does just 80% of what most of us hope for, if Davies and Adams come back firing, and if Etete continues to look like a centre forward we should be able to aspire to mid table obscurity!

I’d resign Morrison, and then McGuinness comes back to replace Nelson when he leaves in the summer. If McG is playing regularly and improving, then it’s good. The last thing we need is for him to come and sit on the bench.

He won’t like it but I think we’ll have to get by with COD at LB, for the foreseeable future. We should have Philogene, Harris, Davies and *shudders* Whyte who can play wide. Ojo has been a serviceable footballer at this level, even if he looks s million miles away from that presently.

Other option would be to play Kipre, Morrison/McG and Ng in a 5, with Romeo and COD as wing backs, and two strikers.

What’s happened to Jack Simpson? He hasn’t played a single minute since City won the appeal against his sending off at QPR.

The game where i said that he let the qpr player get the wrong side of him because he had his 'Thumb up his arse' (along with Wintle) and i got a right condescending reply from another poster. Seems Hudson thought that Simpson had his Thumb up his arse that evening.

With the nurses strike and that he may still be up the Heath getting it removed:shrug:

I think Hudson prefers Ng and Kipre and hasn’t wanted to change that pairing
