  • You're never too old......

Seeing as there is so much drivel on here, I thought I might introduce some thoughtful issues.

In all my 75 years I have never heard of Nicola TESLA......(and not of the car....). I have also never been interested in mathematics...but I am now intrigued....

I am still learning about his work, but a very thought provoking video is very open to debate:

It's quite astonishing really....and certainly an upgrade on Sludge Factory and Organ Morgan and big tits in Cowbridge post......and be careful guys.....someone was fined £100 for just wolf whistling at a female recently....

It just shows there are always topics out there to keep the mind busy.....

Spot on Maurice. Good post. A good dose of quantum physics keeps the dementia away....as the old saying goes.

If anyone is ever in Belgrade (I'm assuming TBG has been many times) the Nikola Tesla Museum is a recommended visit.

In some ways, it's good that Tesla cars are keeping his name alive and relevant - in other ways, it's quite sad that Elon Musk is now so strongly associated with the name Tesla.

I made mention of him three months ago on the other forum here: https://www.ccmb.co.uk/showthread.ph...=1#post5346611

              - Nikola Tesla, possibly the greatest mind ever who invented AC electricity amongst many others, who died around 80 years ago, allegedly claimed he could kill literally any number of people and nobody would know how it was done.

His most famous quote is: "If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration."

He was talking of scalar weaponry, gravity waves, etc. -

The video below touches on his work. What's said about treating cancer just after the first minute has been heavily suppressed since then. It is directly related to why virtually all modern music is intentionally tuned at 440 Hz instead of at 432 Hz which it was prior.

                    Nonsense.

Pitch has varied throughout the ages. In the 18th century A above middle C could have been any manner of frequencies from the late 300s to above 440hz, depending in which city you were in and what the composer wanted. There is a general belief that A back then sounded a semitone flat, but that's not strictly true. Some composers would even get their performers to tune slightly sharper as a way of making their music sound brighter and more brilliant. A tuning fork belonging to Beethoven had a frequency of over 450, can't remember the exact figure.

In 1939 there was an attempt to standardise pitch as different countries used differing frequencies. There was no standard before it was agreed that A=440hz. I've read some of the conspiracy theories surrounding A=432hz and they're bollocks. Even now orchestras and performers don't always play to 440hz. George Martin was fond of speeding or slowing a Beatles' track slightly to get an effect he wanted. Some world famous orchestras use a slightly higher frequency for A.

In addition, most recorded music since 1939 has been played on vinyl. However, I reckon a huge number of record decks were never perfectly calibrated to play at the correct speed, resulting in records being played slower or faster, with a resulting change in pitch.
