    Re: Optician recommendations

I have had a few eye tests at Copes on Fairwater Green and they're fine.
More recently I have suffered with retina problems and was referred to the Heath where they have all the mod cons.
A year after that I was sent by my doctor to the place in Radyr following a bleed in my eye.
She was pretty thorough but wanted me to pay to have a 3D scan taken of my retina. After saying that I'd get that in the Heath for free if she just referred me, she gave it to me for nowt anyhow.
Since then I've been using the Specsavers at Leckwith as my employer gives me vouchers for VDU glasses.
They have all the mod cons and are very thorough, and picked up on my retina detachment 2 years back.
Had me referred back up the Heath the same day.
So to summarise, any of the above will be as good as you need. Visit regularly. If you cant afford the eye test tell them one of your parents has/had glaucoma. Test are free for family.

The vibe from the posts so far is that people are happy enough with them.
ASDA are actually the best around ime. And their charges are way less than Specsavers and they have all the latest testing equipment so you’ve nothing to lose by giving them a go. Why would fact that Specsavers have your previous eye tests be a reason to use them again? It’s history, no relevance to your current needs.

Most of my family use RN Roberts on the slip road at Gabalfa flyover. They did go a bit mad during Covid (it was like trying to get into Fort Knox), but I guess that was par for the course. No problems with their actual work.

I've used Boots Opticians for years with no problems.
