    ditto.
1970 was THE world cup tournament. Pele, Jairzino. Carlos Alberto, Rivelino, Tostao...

We'll never see a better team

    RIP legend

      Re: Pele has died

I remember feeling cheated when Pele was kicked out of the 1966 World Cup, literally. It has to be remembered that most if not all of Brazil's players were only ever seen during World Cups when we could marvel at skills we had never seen before. So to have this pleasure cut short by players not fit to lace his boots was was a sickener.

All that changed in 1970. We had our first colour TV so we could immerse ourself into the beautiful spectacle that was played out before us. Watching Brazil thrilled me and though Rivelino was my personal favourite, there was no doubting who was the main man, Pele. RIP and thank you.

The 60s really were the Pele and Ali (Clay) years.

Received his third World Cup winners medal in 2007, such a shame that many didn’t live to get their winners medal.

I think black armbands worn in football around the world this weekend are in order.

My first proper World Cup, that I watched, was the 1970 competition in Mexico. I remember him shooting from the half way line, when the keeper was off his line, which went just wide.Brazil had a brilliant team which he pulled together. RIP Pele.

                      I assume you disagree.

The guy was an absolute class apart on the pitch and off.

Apart from his phenomenal numbers he played the game with his back to goal in a day where defenders had a virtual free rein to kick seven kinds of shit out of the opposition.

A man who conducted himself on the pitch in a way that should make footballers of today cringe with embarrassment.

Football Ambassador extraordinaire for six decades, known all over the planet and an inspiration to so many.

The tributes over the last few days are everywhere, the newspapers, tv, social media for the undisputed First world football superstar.

                      So yes, really!

I'm sure he was and I've articulated the fact however he was in a great team and in my humble view some were equals .

He decided to become some ambassador and make more money from.his fame , and play for New York Cosmos which raised his profile above the greats he played with. . Which made him wealthy.. alledgly $ 100 million which is incredible for a player of that era , some were selling thier medals to make a buck in thier old age ...

Arm bands is a no for me as a personal choice , just feels a a bit over the top in my humble opinion.

Yes too some respectful hand clapping whilst his skills are dispalyed on a big screen for youngerters and others who remember him to absorb .. ...

Might make me sound uncaring , I was far more saddened by Whitt 's passing than Pele ..

He’d been retired nearly as long as Pele!!
