  • Live Streams

You will have noticed perhaps that many long time favourite streams have disappeared (or more correctly, seemingy been closed down by some authority or other).

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...l-streams.html

So....just make sure that you use a VPN before viewing......!!!! I use NORDVPN - a paid for VPN that I use with Firestick in France for UK TV. Also I use this on my laptops - it's a good idea to ALWAYS use a vpn anyway.

I will add also that it is wonderful (not), that the UK police have such manpower that they can devote to this heinous crime...

    ...Having said all that:
    1) Would they have a warrant to enter your house.....probably not...
    2) What made up crime would they be charged with? As far as I'm aware copyright law doesn't allow for transient, non physical, copies. Streaming is like listening to pirate radio there is nothing on the host device.

It's so widespread I'm sure some of the officers that would be at your door have previously or even regularly watched something streamed illegally.

I ALWAYS use a VPN now after BT sent me an email a while ago warning that I'd watched an unauthorised football
stream. Not only that but a lot of these streaming sites aren't exactly regulated so protecting your data is important.

            Thanks for the information, Maurice.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I always appreciate your match-day efforts to supply links.

              Re: Live Streams

This is just a scare tactic, there's no way they'll go to the cost and effort of securing warrants to enter every one of those houses. I would the say most that would happen would be a friendly "warning" not to do it again.

If Sky and BT genuinely want to eradicate piracy, the solution is simple: stop charging stupid amounts of money for subscriptions (through which you can only watch half the games anyway).

I was too! BT are notorious gits though they are always the first to block sites (like pirate bay) if you try and access them directly through them as an ISP.

                  Re: Live Streams

If you're streaming a match occasionally, it's likely to be no more than a written warning from your internet provider.
Do be a bit careful though, they can, and will take you to court if you're ripping movies and albums left, right and centre.

I rip the odd thing without using a VPN and have never had so much as a warning. They will go after you if you're deemed to be taking the biscuit though.

Incorrect. I was involved with hundreds of cases of Copyright infringement in respect of digital copies of data.
And downloading data that is covered by Copyright and without permission (as in illegal streaming) is also an infringement.

Copyright infringements incur when you download/copy digital files covered by Copyright and without permission regardless of where you sourced them.

BUT...it is NOT downloading is it???? It is liv e stream. Click the OFF button and exit browser clearing data/temp files etc and no trace....

It does NOT take space on your laptop....!!

In the same way...if you watch BBC iPlayer...you do NOT download the program to your hard drive....

A stream and a download are essentially, exactly the same thing.
The only difference is that one is stored on your hard drive, and the other isn't.
No point using that argument in a court of law Maurice, they'll be having none of it!

This, scare tactics, just like the tv detector vans.

If they come to my door without a warrent they can do one :hehe:

You'd also think they'd have better things to do.
