Saw it on twitter. Also, there's about 10 Champ jobs either of them could realistically get, probably less, and some of them are much smaller clubs than us. They'll never get a PL job, and unless they want to drop into League One and have a season or two there, beggars can't be choosers.

      interesting call.
another one who plays 3-4-3 or variations thereof.
think he was a bit more direct than some of the others though wasn't he?

did very well to get Barnsley to the playoffs, but his record since then isn't good.
a lot of his run at Barnsley was down to him bringing in Daryl Dike, who couldn't stop scoring

There’s the Tan/Dalman/Choo factor though. If that is true about Smith, I’m surprised he’s even contemplating us, notwithstanding the fact he had such a bad time at Norwich - I wouldn’t mind him, thought he did well at Walsall, Brentford and Villa where I didn’t see much evidence of the dull football he’s supposed to have played at Norwich.

If he came in, we'd sign Mowatt on loan, I'd be sure of that

If you're ruling out clubs with bad owners, steer clear of the Champ. Every manager we can feasibly get is going to unattached, meaning something has gone wrong somewhere be it Smith at Norwich, Wilder at Boro or Ismael etc at WBA and Besiktas. Also, if Ismael is going to take the WBA and Besiktas jobs, I don't think he is that arsed about owners

Not one I thought of but a lot better than a lot on the list.

I thought he got sacked and Dave Whitehead and the new fitness coach left at the same time.

                    [Edit]
                    A quick Google confirms this

Last I saw of him was this time last year when he instigated a brawl at the end of our match at West Brom. As you say his style of play is very direct and physical. It said something that my West Brom supporting mate was glad to see him replaced by Steve Bruce!

Interesting bit on Wikipedia that he was sacked from a Greek side after one game after falling out with the President of the club. Sounds like a marriage made in heaven.

was he going for Mark Hudson iirc?

His "bad spell" at WBA had them 5th. I'd take him here, no questions. Played young players, and he's used to working with dreadful owners

Our squad is better suited to playing Ismael's style rather than anything Morison and Hudson was trying to do.

Just been looking at Ismael's record. This is how Wikipedia describes his time at Wolfsburg:

"First-team head coach Dieter Hecking was sacked on 17 October 2016 and was replaced by Ismaël on an interim basis. In his first four games in charge, Wolfsburg managed to win twice. Ismaël was promoted from interim coach to permanent head coach on 7 November 2016. Ismaël was sacked on 26 February 2017."

                              Sounds awfully familiar...

Still, i'd think he's a better fit than Warnock

As much as I loved Warnock here, I'm not sure this team is right for him. We could bring in a few journeymen of his choice, stay up but then be in the same situation next year with players on our books that just don't fit.
