Billy Ayre was only 47 years old in that video, passed away two years later. One of a kind, used to wear a full Blackpool strip when he was manager there, while in the dugout. Full strip as well, with the no 15 0n the back.

Worth remembering that that dressing room were relegated to the bottom division at the end of that season.Originally posted by UNDERHILL1927 View PostFantastic, thanks for posting.
Sludge will be getting off on that one this morning.
“Like a dog on lino” haha brilIiant.
Our current dressing room won’t have anywhere near that amount of heart of grit sadly.

Yeah not the outcome we wanted but at least a bit of fight on the way down.Originally posted by Rjk View PostWorth remembering that that dressing room were relegated to the bottom division at the end of that season.

Indeed. Teams tend to get relegated more because they weren't good enough not because of a lack of fight. You can have all the grit and fight and leadership in the world but if you're not good enough it matters diddly squat.Originally posted by Rjk View PostWorth remembering that that dressing room were relegated to the bottom division at the end of that season.
The league table is a pretty good way of seeing how good or bad a team is in the division - funny that. Every season there are teams who "shouldn't be up there" or "won't stay up there" yet do, and teams that "are too good to be at the bottom" or "look at the players they have, they shouldn't be down there" yet get involved in relegation battles.
