Sincere apologies for not searching for the U21 thread but as it’s kick off time this will highlight it better

No metaphorically about it, apart from there weren't enough rows.

1-0 down to a deflected goal, they’re having a go in the closing minutes, but there’s the same lack of technique and composure in front of goal that you see from the first team.

Yup, string quite a few square passes together across the back but no real incisiveness, no cutting-edge... just like the first team, as you said.

Re: U21 V Wolves live on YouTube now

I've just watched this match and it was quite an even game. What struck me was our recruitment. 6 of the starting line-up have been signed from other teams and none of them will ever be a Championship player. Eli King was a class apart, despite not having his best game. Tom Davies is a frustrating player, you can see why McCarthy rated him so highly. But he needs to work harder and stronger in the challenge. McNamara was our best passer, he could do a job in centre mid, because as has been discussed before he doesn't look tall enough for a centre back. We also improved when Jefferies replaced Leahy. He was more positive and direct, I'd expect him to get a pro contract.

The current U18's and the U16's are three of the best years we have ever produced. I hope their progress isn't retarded by the club signing another group of everyone else's cast offs just to 'placate' some favoured agents.

In fairness, there has been quite a lot of injuries with Kavanagh, Pritchard, McNamara, Clay and Denham missing the best part of the season injured.
