  • Slow Down On M4

GoSafe speed enforcement van carried out three surveys were as a consequence new speed patrols will be cropping up later this month on a section of the M4 in Cardiff where thousands of motorists have been clocked travelling at 85mph or higher. On January 24 extra mobile enforcement measures will be starting up between junction 33 and junction 34, following an increase in the number of collisions caused by speeding.

As a result of these accidents multi-agency Wales road casualty reduction partnership GoSafe conducted three speed surveys at different locations of the motorway. These surveys took in a total of 213,372 vehicles and found that 70,713 drivers were exceeding the speed limit - with 6,109 going up to and above 85mph or higher.

I'm not condoning speeding, but I reckon everyone gets so p*ssed off, having sat in stationary traffic since crossing the bridge, or crawled along at a snails-pace through the tunnels, that as soon as the traffic eases up after Cardiff, they put their foot down. Well, that's my theory anyway.

It's not a motorway, if you have to drive at 50mph. Which means the main road to the capital city is not a motorway. We really are a second rate nation, when it comes to transport. Unless you live in Cardiff and ride a bike - then you're fine.

Cardiff appears to be going down the tubes, traffic is shocking, no bus station, old train station (not that anyone can afford a train) dying airport and football club, any decent pubs gone along with live music venues, any independent shops left? Just a load of chain stores with homeless folk everywhere….grim. Welcome to Wales land of Mark Drakeford
