Re: Giles sports ram raid!!
I recall a few away games where certain shops would get done over. Five of us missed the coach to Blackpool by the Empire pool one year (91/92 ish), whilst wondering what to do the “loony” coach comes along half empty and they nicely insisted we get on.....what a lovely day that was. Straight into some designer shop not long after arriving, about 30 of them coming out with all sorts and the owner losing it with a baseball bat, police everywhere...I was Uber glad just to get home that day.

I referred to that incident in the friday night drinking thread, just gone. Lets just say that a fair portion of Llanedeyrn (including pensioners) were walking about in those brightly coloured Benetton puffa jacketsOriginally posted by blue matt View Post

Olympus sport (Queen st) What was the one in St Johns square called-Intersport? And there was that Welsh sports ? By the City Arms. Sportsflair in Canton and Wellfield rd, Cardiff sporrtsgear in Whitchurch rd. Bolwells in blsckwood was great for those into their Adidas Gazelle, Jeans etc, the locals didn't seem as enthusiastic about purchasing them as the football boys from cardiff.

Tommy Rees. He was a friend of my Dad’s and was an official (maybe a ref even?) in Welsh boxing. And maybe amateur football.Originally posted by Tuerto View PostWas that John Scott, the ex rugby players shop?
It is a bit hazy! But I remember my Dad taking me there to get some football boots when I was in junior school.

Welsh people carrying out a ram raid, you say....Originally posted by William Treseder View PostWas anyone else on here, in or around St Marys St on that night? Think it was a Friday. Can’t remember what yr either, but it must have been late 80’s?
Me and a few mates were heading to the Philharmonic, when all of a sudden, this car just reversed straight into the windows of Giles Sports.
The following 10/15 minutes were complete mayhem. I’ve never seen a place get emptied as quick as that!!
The place was overwhelmed in minutes, with folk grabbing what ever they could.
I got some golf clubs, trainers and a baseball bat 😂😂😂
