  • Right Long Fast Ball Footy Is Back

Looks like we're going to play more like Mick McWarnock ball to survive, oooorah I say, as its probably the only way we may stay up by being direct and nasty .

This passing for passing sake is for better teams / players, we only lose the bloody thing, due to the lack of player's ball retention distribution , visionary skills..

The forward line with Wickham , new lad looks a tougher and has a bigger physical look about it ..

No prisoners footy we want , where is Pato the legend when we need him most ...

Paterson , Flint , Morrison , Moore etc

Not having those sort of players is why we are in the crap

Don't blame me , I didn't vote for the new lot

Same comments on the other site, yes it looks like a clear more direct style of play with pace and power, so that's why I think he will start with Etete and Kaba, although maybe he will try Robinson with him first.

We will have a clearer view over the next three games or so, personally, I think it's the only way, and I think (and hope) it will work.

Who will be the long throw specialist?

Probably just as much chance of retaining possession as we do when we throw five yards.

Id be stunned if he picked a front 2 of Etete and Kaba.

I think theres more chance of neither starting.

Time will tell, interesting to see what he does.

Kaba and Davies is my preferred starters

Hoof it and hope - it’s in the DNA of this club.

It's clear that passing in pretty triangles hasn't helped so route one it is

I think a front two of Wickham and Robinson is far more likely, provided the former stays fit of course.
Both have an eye for goal and movement, it should, in theory at least, give us a better chance of goals.

The worry is who passes or creates opportunities for them?
Outside of O'Dowda, there's very little creativity in this squad.

I was doing a bit of fishing there, but if anyone thinks the reason why we’re where we are is because this group of players have not been playing route one, then they’re sadly mistaken. Thirty games in, I think we can say that the squad, minus Kaba, would have the same sort of miserable goals return no matter how we played. We’re better equipped to play it lomg and rely on set pieces now, but the delivery from corners and free kicks has to be far, far better than it was at Hull.

If we sign Wickham and he could become seventy per cent of the player he once was, we’d have a complete centre forward, not just someone you whack it long on to his head, but I think the chances of that happening aren’t great.

Signing him, or getting 70%+ out of him?
I suspect you mean the latter, which is my concern really.

However, if he can stay fit and produce that, then he and Robinson could get goals.

Well it’s both really because I don’t think he’s signed yet has he? You’d have thought he would have by now.
