  • The Apprentice Lot

    Same every year

What a bunch of two faced back stabbing creeps

I would invite them all in to the boardroom and massacre the lot with one of those old fashioned gattling guns from the westerns ?

Boring programme now. There's only so many challenges that can be aired and only so many ways it can be made interesting really.

I watched a programme on the Great Stink of 1858 on channel 5 instead

The tasks are invariably the same every series, so you'd like to think that the participants would learn from previous years mistakes.
They way this year's lot tackle them it's as if they'd never seen the programme before.

                    They do indeed

This exam paper shows what 13 year old school children in Inverness in 1945 were expected to know

 I don't even know who you are.

just seemed strange that the twats on the apprentice have anything to do with a history paper from 1945

Err , it’s in reference to how thick they are … generally speaking the education curriculum is getting more and more watered down compared to years ago and the link was an example of that

so...I don't think these guys are acting like twats because they are poorly educated, they are probably better educated than most people in 1945, they are just twats. there were twats in 1945 as well of course, the difference here is the people making this show goes out of their way to select cocky twats to put on the show as it would be boring as hell with a load of efficient unassuming competent people.

as for the 1945 exam paper, that does show an interesting difference between education then and now, back then it was much more about memorising a large number of things and then regurgitating it word for word onto your exam paper.
students today would struggle with that as obviously they haven't done the studying to lead up to it.
a modern history course is much more about giving the students the tools to appraise a source and be able to critique who was writing it, what were they trying to achieve, is it likely to be reliable etc.

these days we have Wikipedia, so the ability to recite a paragraph about Lloyd George or the Darian expedition is much less valuable, and the ability to make an assessment on a source of information is far far more.
1945 students would probably really struggle with a modern year 9 history assessment (especially if it's about something which happened since the second world war )
