Menorca/Mallorca two centre for some walking. Nothing booked yet but looking at end of August/start of September.
That sounds great. :ayatollah:

Fossil hunting in Lyme Regis? Dirty bugger.Originally posted by jon1959 View PostMid April for 3 weeks walking our last section of the SW Coastal Path (Plymouth to Poole - 210 miles): B&Bs with two 'rest days', one in Lyme Regis fossil hunting.
September in mainland Greece for the first time. Hotels and a bit pricey!

Original poster might want to invest in a better car than spending his wedge on dogging expeditions to Tenerife next month and Tenby during the summer.
His crappy Astra shakes, coughs, splutters and backfires its way to Cardiff and back while he grips the steering wheel for dear life.
He and that shed is a menace to other road users.

Thanks.Originally posted by Taunton Blue Genie View PostAs you may be aware, I'm doing the SWCP but in smaller chunks and won't finish it until next year (and I'm not looking forward to completing it). My next stretches are Plymouth eastwards too. Give me a shout if you want the benefit of some local knowledge when you are in SE Devon.
We did Bude to Penzance in 2019; Penzance to Plymouth in 2021 and Minehead to Bude in 2022. This will be the longest segment.
The SW Coastal Path is usually described as 630 miles - but we have already done about 20 miles more than the official distance because of high tide detours, MOD live firing detours, and storm damage (fallen trees blocking path) detours.
But we are not doing The Salt Path - more The Comfort Path with B&Bs/hotels all booked in advance, and daily luggage transfers for the cases. Hopefully not too much rain.

"Daily luggage transfers" sounds so middle class :D

Tenby is great for a philistine like meOriginally posted by Rock_Flock_of_Five View PostI envy you, having it almost on your doorstep.
Funnily enough, I recently happened to come across images of Tenby on the Internet, truly beautiful place!
I haven't been there for about 25 years, I would imagine it's hardly changed much?
Would love to visit there again in the not too distant future.
Beach and nice walks nearby but also plenty of chippys , kebab and curry houses

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour yet?Originally posted by SLUDGE FACTORY View PostTenby is great for a philistine like me

Fall to thy knees to repent while you can for your moral turpitude at Castell Coch's car park and elsewhere when you fornicated with scrubbers galore.
The dark back lanes and bushes and knocking shops where you sinned were not private affairs: He witnessed it all.

There is still a backpack - but a suitcase transferred by local taxi as well. When we started doing this type of long national trail walk years ago most people carried all their stuff in a pack. But in recent years I would say that 80%+ use luggage transfers for cases and just carry the day pack.
Changing times! All pre-booked and the transfers account for about 10-15% of the cost with the rest mostly on accommodation.
