Re: Car Insurance Rip Off
Mine with Esure went up like £100 last year, compared and it was still one of the cheaper companies, at a time when the media were talking about across the board insurance rises. This year it has gone down about £90 without doing anything. Fair play, first time for everything.

A few companies have announced that they are dropping prices in Wales due to fewer accidents after the 20 mph limit - but I tihnk that was about 20-50 or something. I dont think Ive seen any of that though.

I noticed the cheaper ones last year wanted to have some monitor installed. I'd not noticed it before for myself, I know they might be useful if you're 17 and facing ridiculous quotes but for me in the £250-£300 range it seemed unnecessary.
Re: Car Insurance Rip Off
Barely £20 a month. It’s not 1993 anymore.
Re: Car Insurance Rip Off
Think the supposed roads are safer thing re 20mph isn’t really doing much for insurance premiums. In fact, it appears with traffic so slow anyway in Cardiff, if people can go fast at any point in time, they just go for it with careless abandon….:hehe: like the shackles are off, let’s go, if the first car is doing it the rest just follow suit….

I think charging 215 then 285 the next year is taking the piss

Thought the same, all things considered at the moment insurance is one of the better value commodities that can be purchased.
Re: Car Insurance Rip Off
Traffic so slow in the Cardiff your more likely to car jacked in motion.

My mrs used them...for one year. Cheap then whacked up.
No problems, but didn't need to make a claim. Don't know how they are when you need them.
My house ins when up £100 this year too.
Re: Car Insurance Rip Off
Mine went up £30.
Didn't think it was worth £30 of my time to shop around for anything potentially cheaper, so stayed with the same company.
Re: Car Insurance Rip Off
about £70-90 of everyone's car insurance premium is to cover payouts for whiplash claims

For the amount they've gone down, it's only a handful of claims across Wales throughout the year. Insurance companies are hardly going to lower premiums for that.

apparently there has been a 20% reduction in car damage claims in Wales since the limit was reduced - that is significant.
Esure have stated they are able to reduce premiums in Wales by up to £50 as a result

I reckon that's nonsense. There has only been around a 20% reduction in accidents in 20/30mph speed limit areas, whether that is down to the limits dropping is yet to be proved. Overall, the number of accidents on all roads hasn't gone down 20%. I also reckon the number of claims on roads of 30mph or slower would tend to be lower than those on roads with a higher speed limit, so 20% overall? I don't buy that whatsoever. That's not based on any dislike I have for a blanket approach on the 20mph limit but looking at it logically.

Why do these idiots give you a fair quote then whack it up ?
They must know people will naff off elsewhere if it's a big hike

that was what was fairly widely reported - car damage claims down by 20% across Wales.
I would imagine that quite a high proportion of minor bumps were on roads that were formerly 30mph

320 to 350. Still under £1 a day.
Maybe living in the leafy Vale isn't as safe as it used to be?
Shop around as other companies won't have as much weight on certain factors like postcode. You could also look at increasing your excess, or, if you have breakdown included, look at changing the level of cover ?
Re: Car Insurance Rip Off
Just renewed mine - Admiral reduced mine by £30 but I had to use the online system to coerce them into it
