Mozz, Shrewd is a bit over the top. Interesting would come to mind. We know nothing about this bloke as a coach. I'm always mildly perplexed when people use Superlatives in order to project their leanings, Osian Roberts is the second coming on here because he's Welsh and Cesc Fabregas said he was good. Be optimistic by all means, Positivity is welcomed, but plucking shit out of thin air.....

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
I can't see much happening until the end of the month as that's when the current financial period ends.

Quite. I can remember certain individuals declaring that Bulut signing Alex Runarsson on loan was a shrewd move as the keeper was due to be out of contract with Arsenal this summer. Turns out Runarsson was woeful and got binned by Arsenal in February.
-
Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
I hope he has lots of connections to quality players who are looking for a basket case of a club to play for.
If he has - then great - Im yet to be convinced, Im also yet to renew my season ticket.

Yeah, happens all the time. Will Vaulks was lauded by a fair few on here, although that was because he played for Wales. People just don't know, unless they're sat at home hour after hour watching crap football matches. Saying that.....

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
it does feel as though we have been less than the sum of our parts in attacking for some time, so hopefully this kind of appointment will have a significant impact.
last year we had the likes of Meite, Bowler, Grant etc who have all done it at this level before and we were largely ineffective in attack

You'd hope so, although he was with a Watford side that managed to score just one goal in two games against us last season, so perhaps we shouldn't expect too much.

yes, but we should at least try to enjoy the possibility that we will be a good side now in the close season , before we are proven otherwise.

I'll start looks like we missed out on Jordan Williams
Portsmouth have won the race to sign Barnsley defender Jordan Williams on a free transfer ahead of West Brom and Cardiff
Perhaps it's just me but does anyone else get a bit underwhelmed when I find out we've missed out on signing someone who has ended up going to a team quite a bit below us in the pecking order last season?
It would be good to hear we've missed out on someone who ended up going to a side aiming for promotion, to be targeting players that are also targets for likely top sides in the division. Absolutely no disrespect to Jordon Williams, and hope he has a great career (except when he plays us, he can have a shocker then lol), but aiming for League 1 players that end up going to a side from the same division last season doesn't inspire me greatly. If that is the sort of target we are aiming for we'll get more transfers wrong than right and we're not heading up the table.

probably a load of b'llux this rumour but we are in for Michael Olise

He's just signed for Bayern Munich, hasn't he? Well, at least they're rumoured to be after him.
Mind you, if Cardiff City enter the frame it could scupper Bayern's plans... :hehe:

Did we really 'miss out' on signing Jordan Williams?
I can believe that the club looked at him as a possible full back option - probably along with dozens of others - and maybe even spoke to someone - but did they ever make a formal approach?
Surely most of these 'linked with' stories are agent inventions?
They are usually given space by Wales Online (after appearing somewhere else first) and then are rubbished a few days later when the club deny ever being interested. Two stories and no substance.

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
We had been linked with Sevilla reserves striker Musa Drammeh but it looks like he's off to Hearts.

Why on Earth would you be underwhelmed by us missing out on a League 1 player ? There could be a myriad of reasons why one player would choose to join one club not another and not all of them are be football-related.
In this instance you probably feel miffed because you consider Cardiff to be superior to Pompey and yet the player has chosen to join them instead of us. Anyhow, it's more likely that we were never interested in him in the first place. Just pure speculation by WOL.

We are competing with teams in Scotland and league 1/newly promoted :hehe:
Its ok tho cos theres a member of backroom staff coming in thats going to rip up the way Bulut plays and get us going.

Because if we were in for him, we've lost out to a team below us in the football league.

So it's a pride thing then. Nothing to do with how good the player is or his reasons for joining Portsmouth. Also, as they were promoted last season they are no longer below us in the league.

I'm not panicking.
But at what point does the "Tan backs Bulut" narrative become another PR bullshit lie?
If we want to get real philosophical (since there's absolutely **** all else to talk about) is a lie a lie when it's first muttered or when the event in question does/does not happen?
