I think we all stopped believing they cared what the fans think.
But if we imagined they did its not impossible to think the club may think this will be a really popular response to that letter. It's also not impossible to think having seen the social media reaction last night and today they'll do a late u turn mind. Nothing would surprise me!

Riza is likely to be appointed, we knew it all along, the only real surprise is they didn't announce it after the good run we had.
I sort of think they forgot and the letter and press have reminded them.

Lads in the dressing room really behind him, new way of playing that the lads are really enjoying, been a massive turnaround etc etc etc. In the bottom three at the end of January, gets sacked for an experienced manager and rinse and repeat. The spiral is depressingly predictable.
I hope he is a success with us.
I think the issue with the board is there's no guarantee with any manager you bring in - experienced, inexperienced, they all end up the same way - sacked after a bad run.
If there was a manager we could bring in who would DEFINITELY turn us into a promotion challenging side then I have no doubt they would be all over it - but such a person doesn't exist. People successful at one club are frequently unable to replicate that elsewhere. Or even at the same club after some time.
Back in the early 2000s George Burley took Ipswich into the premier league, and then to 5th and qualified for Europe. He was made premier league manager of the season the only player in a run of 10 seasons who wasn't Wenger or Ferguson.
Within little more than a year he was sacked - he never got another premier league job and by 2012 he was finished in management altogether, having been unsuccessful in a number of jobs since.
There's often little rhyme or reason to it - that manager you want, your preferred option - deep down you now they could very easily not work out here. I guess the board are unlikely to get rid of a guy who's doing OK at this point when there's a chance whoever they bring in will do even worse.
Yes we may quickly reach the point where Riza has taken us as far as we can go, but at the moment I don't see that giving him time to show what he can do with the tam is any more risky than getting rid of hi and starting again with someone else. And I guess the board probably see it that way as well.
If this is happening - so far just Twitter noise and Paul Abbandonato doing his ITK act - it will be a further example of lack of leadership and lack of effective and regular communication from the club.
I would prefer an experienced manager - and there are lots out there.
I don't agree that Cardiff City is unattractive or a basket case - despite the obvious weaknesses in the boardroom and the foibles of the owner. But the club is stable unless Tan walks away, has its own stadium, training ground, and an Academy that is finally starting to do what it is thee for. The regular fan base may be mainly apathetic and shrinking, but there is the potential for a 30k + home crowd if we get it right.
But Riza, despite his limited track record, has changed the mood music in the squad, been more attacking and adventurous, made some big mistakes (Bristol City) but also shown he is able to change formations and players in-game, has conducted himself well to my mind (I know he has irritated some with his desire for the job) and he isn't Bulut.
So if he gets the job for the rest of the season I hope he gets full backing. The January window is make or break - and little evidence yet that the club has done the ground work for it - and Riza's coaching team is threadbare. At the start of the summer Bulut and the club were talking about adding to the coaching team (numbers and skills). But Omer Riza came in whilst Nadir Sonmez left, and when Erol Bulut, Nikolaos Karydas and Mario Galinovic left only Gavin Ward came in as temporary cover with Darren Purse helping out (he is not shown as a first team coach even now on the club website). We are seriously lacking in the coaching team.
Of course there's no guarantee and it's kind of odd we're just hoping for someone who will leave after a few years rather than 6 months but there must be some rhyme or reason to it; not everyone treats it like a crap shoot. Tan gives the impression that anyone (within reason) can do it and it's not that big a deal so he's reluctant to shell out. Perhaps deep down he doesn't like the whole manager aura since he likes to think of himself as the main man.Quote:

He’s not actually been appointed, it’s currently a rumour. The rumour may even have been leaked to try to gauge fans response, who knows. Personally I think it’s much too big a job for someone with Riza’s cv. This is a job for an experienced pair of hands.Quote:

That has not gone down well.
I feel sorry for Riza, who clearly wants this big break, but the manner of his appointment has been worse than shambolic and it's a massive gamble for a club in our position. As others have said, there are no guarantees whoever you appoint, but I feel other options would improve our odds.
We've definitely improved since Bulut left, but they massively cocked up reappointing him in the first place - if they've cocked up again we're stuffed.

I don't think Omer Riza's appearance is right for the club, either. He looks like he doesn't care for himself and that's something that always raises questions.

Over and above all that, we can't afford to take a gamble on someone with such little experience. If we were in the lower leagues, then it would be different.
My fear is not who is the manager but how much they have to spend in January and who they spend it on… probably nobody as we have ‘stars’ coming back from injury or returning loanees
