Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
Here’s the reason we need to keep Salech & Robinson plus find at least another 2 strikers who can score in L1
City are at least 30 goals per season light of being a contender.
Birmingham had 22 different goalscorers, 8 of them had 5 or more goals.
Last 5 seasons.
Birmingham 84. Wrexham 67 ….. Cardiff 48
Portsmouth 78, Derby 78 ….. Cardiff 53
Plymouth 82, Ipswich 101 ….. Cardiff 41
Wigan 82, Rotherham 70 ….. Cardiff 50
Hull 80, Peterborough 83 ….. Cardiff 66

there's a fundamental flaw with this logic

We need to move Robinson on. Davies hasn't had much of a chance yet to show his potential, and we have Reindorf as an option also. Robinson just eats too much into the wage bill and we could fetch a decent price for him still.

Don't forget Simic, he looked a tidy finisher when playing for U21's , I'm surprised he didn't get a chance towards the end of the season.

Callum Robinson is on Wrexham's radar
if true 5 million in todays market ?
Wrexham will be able to get Prem players that aren't in fav or looking for more playing time. Why! Exposure. You can't get better exposure outside!! the prem than Wrexham atm.
Croeso i Caerdydd season 1 anyone?

Do you know Robinsons contract terms?
The problem is buying a replacement would probably be more expensive, where are they coming from?
Stansfield was £15m, Smith ain’t moving from Wrexham, Wycombe turned down £6m for Kone, Kelman is a loan & worth more than Robinson, Goddard is 33, Keillor Dunn is a midfielder, Alfie May worth more than Robinson, Louie Barry going to the Championship. The list goes on.
Let’s just say that Salech gets 20 goals next season, are Simic, Etete, Ashford, Davies et al, capable of getting 55 between them?

Reindorf is nowhere near an option, as it stands, and i think that we should do what we can to keep our top goalscorer.

Between Salech, Davies, Simic and Reindorf, I think we're actually OK for centre-forwards. Of course, if we lose Salech, that's another thing entirely, but I think we need to cash out on Robinson now before he gets too old.
I'm not anti-Robinson, he's an important player, but we need to make cuts and we have to make tough decisions. I considered Chambers a tough decision, but still decided to say he should be cut for the sake of money and cashing in while we still can on him.
And yes, in League One, ideally all of those players score more, except for Etete who can't get on the Bolton team.

7+2+0+0 =9 goals totally, 16 if you give Salech a full season. At least 60 short of what we’ll need.

mark Harris got 15 goals in league one.

We are playing easier opponents, Davies has been injured most of the season, and Simic and Reindorf haven't played first-time football. And it's not only strikers who score goals, wingers and midfielders get a few, and even defenders might get a couple.

... "except for Etete who can't get on the Bolton team".
Yet according to you we've got Reindorf, a player who couldn't get into a relegated Bristol Rovers team, not even when they had a striker crisis brought about through injury. :hehe:
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
We bought him for £1.75 mill, WBA took a pretty hefty loss.
In that time, he has sustained a long term injury, lost a yard of pace and scored 18 goals over 130 games. He is now 30 and IMO can only be a lone striker in a really good passing team and he isn't going to back in and battle nor is he running in behind.
I doubt we'll get a fee for him.

Only one of them would score double figures.

Difference being, Reindorf is younger and has a lot of upside based on his U21 performances. I've seen enough of Etete to make a judgement, but I haven't Reindorf.

Don't go bringing your logic into this thread, we'll get $20m to spend for all the players we don't want and just got us relegated, that's how every teams offseason works. At least on message boards it does.

The Bristol Rovers manager did though and thought he wasn't good enough to get in a relegation threatened team and chose to play a center back up front instead of him at one point?

Something seriously weird happened during that loan. They seem to have liked him enough to hijack a move that had been agreed for him to Notts County, then barely played him despite, as you say, having at times zero other strikers. Rovers fans were bemused and not too happy about it. Their second half of the season was dismal, they were relegated and their manager sacked. I'd love to know what the issue was - it was surely more than just ability.

Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
A number of Championship clubs are plotting moves for Cardiff City’s attacking midfielder Rubin Colwill this summer following their relegation to League One. Colwill’s suitors are actively trying to find out Cardiff’s price tag on the player.
claims football writer pete o'rourke
so what price does anything think it would take to part company ? 3 million ?

Someone who struggled to get into a bottom of the table team? You’d think they wouldn’t have to pay more than a million for him, but it’s a strange one because teams will look at his performance at Villa and in three or four other games and think there’s a potential bargain to be had even if they and up paying a lot more than a million. If there genuinely is a bidding war for him, then I think City could ask for something like £7 million.

I hope he stays. The post above sort of poses the question: he has had some really good performances in only a handful of games; is this Rubin's fault or is the club and the environment to blame?

Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
A decent manager/coach will see potential and trust himself to help Colwill fulfill it. As it’s been mentioned in games against better sides he has shone. And anyway it’s not as though any manager of a buying club is using his own money. For some clubs it wouldn’t be a tremendous amount and the coach can use the ‘he’s a long term project’ argument.
