Maybe because they have relatives or friends in the UK, a higher diaspora of their own nationality in concentrated areas. That could be the reason why, after all, there aren't that many of them. If i was a young man fleeing poverty or oppression i'd quite likely want to end up where my family and friends are, so i reckon that i'd take the risk in a dinghy.
A Tory government is all for more cheap labour, for us working men/women ‘A glut of work and a lack of labour’ is a good scenario, gives us a bit of leverage on wages, whereas the ‘ruling classes’ (for want of a better phrase) are well happy with a ‘lack of work and a glut of labour’ and if that labour is £3 a hour under the arm desperate non local workers, who cares?
