Tanner could be a hero for Cardiff , he's got something and against Swansea he did what he's good at , ran at the defender, got to the by line and delivered a great pass that meant Robinson couldn't miss

I haven't said otherwise. However, I think there's a difference between having a night out a week and drinking regularly. If Tanner is on the booze regularly then that needs sorting as I said, but is once a week after a game a regular thing? As I said as well, that's his own personal life.

It’s 2024 not 1984 Eric. He’s a professional athlete. He shouldn’t be out on the piss at all in season, especially when he’s been called out on not being fit enough to start the 90 mins. He's playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. He shouldn't be drinking during the season and that's the reality of it. Have your week in Ibiza in June, that's fine, then close it down. At the highest level there's fine margins, Tanner needs all the help he can get.

Even one night out a week in British culture terms.....say 5 or 6 pints , kebab , bag of chips , a late night , poor sleep , affect next day ......is not acceptable surely?

I would be amazed if any of the top players touch the booze at all , plenty are tee total and those that are not are probably on a gentleman's agreement that there is no drinking during the season unless its a few drinks and a meal with a partner , family or a discreet away from the press , public etc

This is what proper , committed sports people do , there should be no excuses these days

It's like turning up to meet your future father and mother in law wearing a " death metal rules " t shirt

That's your opinion, fair enough, but can you categorically state that no footballers in the Premier League or Championship go out on the booze at all during the season?

Like any employee, if he's not performing to the standard expected, he'll end up leaving, hoping he'll find another job somewhere, which will probably at a lower level.
I don't need to be in top physical condition to do my job, but he does.

A night out a week! That’s 15% of your week. Hanging next day that’s almost a third of your week. Professional athlete in one of Europe’s toughest leagues mind.

The way I see it is the team travel up together then they all travel back together. What sort of impression is he making on the younger members of the squad.
