Shame he's not called DJ Vance :music:

How long ago was that?

Well it's a big job, so he will need an early start. Something weird is happening though, suddenly there are people with big money backing him, and the social media companies are relaxing their anti-Trump policies.

Is that short hand for anti 'racist, misogynistic, paranoid, self-serving lies' policies?
Not that the social media companies are protectors of liberal democratic values and norms - they are just protectors of their gross profits and influence - especially since that Trump soul-brother Musk joined the party.

It means they are standing down their anti-Trump election interfering algorithms. Something big is happening behind the scenes.

It’s like the Sun backing Labour in 1997 and 2024, some very important people have to be seen to be on the winning side, but Trump has it in him to still cock things up

I think it's bigger than Trump, they already control the VP nominee, so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Billionaire Elon Musk has said he plans to commit a massive, monthly donation to a new pro-Trump super political-action committee.
Musk had indicated that he planned to start his donations in July to the America PAC, backing former President Donald Trump's presidential run.
The total contribution from the Tesla CEO and head of social media platform X will be a stunning $45 million a month.
I am so surprised by that - NOT.

Re: The Donald Trump thread
This JD Vance bloke seems like a nice chap
The 39-year-old said he was "beating up" on the UK, and had discussed with a friend “what is the first truly Islamist country to get a nuclear weapon", then joked "maybe it's Iran, maybe Pakistan kind of counts, and then we sort of decided maybe it's actually the UK since Labour just took over".
What say all you right-leaning folk?

Probably take a look at David Lammy calling Trump a 'snowflake' after the attempt on his life..

Wasn't the tweet 4 years ago in response to a Trump comment? It's amazing how it's twisted already? Especially by that rag The Spectator. Still...it's all about nuance I guess.

Re: The Donald Trump thread
Trump started the day with a plaster on his right ear.
Not dramatic enough.
He ended the day with a panty liner taped there!
Fight! Fight! Fight! :hehe:

I'm surprised someone as thin skinned as Trump picked Vance, a man who will change his views if it improves his meal ticket.

Re: The Donald Trump thread
Trump and his bunch are full of crap and my sympathy has gone
He talked about working together for America and change and the first thing he starts doing is waving his fist saying fight ! fight !
His campaign manager Alina Habba is a disgrace
Blaming the Democrats for this incident , the harming of children , nothing is his fault doing exactly the opposite of what was being suggested from the trump insiders ......a new start , dialogue, concensus
They are full of crap , bollocks to all those idiotic republican redneck clowns 🤡
Switch off the lights

Re: The Donald Trump thread
Will be very interesting to hear his speech on Thursday. I don't know if it's protocol for them not to until the end of the conference, but it's quite a piece of political theatre him being at that conference today, all about him and yet not speaking.

Umm, no, not directly, although given his proximity to it, it's a close run thing.

Biden has tragically lost a wife. He knows what this woman is going through.
Trump feels no empathy. We know he doesn't care about others, especially if he doesn't know them. His strongest emotion was probably anger that he lost a voter, especially if it was a swing state voter.

There’s a danger that a failed assassination attempt will lead to a wholesale reassessment of Trumps character. My view is that this would be completely wrong - he’s not the Messiah, he’s still a very naughty boy.
For me, the most telling thing about Saturday’s. events was the way Trump’s mind worked while he was being kept on the floor by the security staff after the bullet had grazed his ear - as soon as he was free to get up, he figured what he had to do was clench his fist and shout fight, fight, fight.
Now, there is something impressive in the fact that Trump could think like that seconds after a near death experience (I certainly couldn’t do that), but we saw the essence of the man there and it was to act aggressively and incite the crowd in a similar way to what he did on 6/1/21.
As you say, the man does not have a clue what the word empathy means.
