Agree on your last point; I didn't fancy her and there's not much I would pass by. Hugely neurotic to boot.

Obviously never knew her but I imagine she was a frigging nightmare to deal with.

This seems to be enough for all those looking or conditioned to look for "identity" or leadership when it's not really anything of the sort. But there we are.
The presence of "royalty" is, amongst other things, a mainstay of inequality and subordination. It's a sad day, and will be a sad week, mostly because it's all a symbol of how happy some are to accept that.
Well said.

It's all medieval tosh and simply about the bed someone is born in. Still, the proletariat seem to enjoy the infantilism and keep the royals on their semi-deified pedestal.

Not sure how much you understand what a 'Monarchy' is, but the UK has a constitutional Monarchy. It affects how we are governed etc., for example the armed forces answer to the Monarch not the government. It may seem quaint and old fashioned, but I would prefer to have a non-political Head of State rather than, say an elected President.

The German President is a politician but, unlike many other presidents, becomes non-political when taking up the post and when he or she becomes the Head of State. It is a different position to the Bundeskanzler (e.g. Helmut Kohl, Angela Merkel) who most people may think was the Head of State.
They may be elected twice and occupy the post for ten years whereas any royal dipstick can be in post until they die.

Yeah but “we’re all in this together” she said. Sitting in front of a solid gold piano.

Bit boring mind, she could do with a corner bar and some nice brass ornaments hanging off the wall. No taste.

I'm your Head of State but have never been on public transport, have no experience of your schooling system, never shopped in a supermarket, never applied for a job, never voted, never been in a pub, never worried about a bill, don't carry cash and generally live in a different world to you.

I have had enough of this already and it's only just started
All the main TV channels , radio , jammed up with royal family experts and people stunned , shocked and devastated ?
She was 96 and they never met her yet they are consumed by sadness ?
These outpourings of public grief are hard work . Can't really avoid it really .

I'm disappointed with you here sludge. Thought you'd have posted hours ago. Now you have posted it's pretty moderate. You're a closet Tory imo.

Stop chatting shit old nut ..how do you know she never been in a pub or on public transport, it's widely known she was out in London when WW2 ended.
