2) The South African consortium consists of Gary Otto and two other people.
3) This alleged consortium first approached the club on Christmas Eve last year and has been in discussions ever since.
4) They were in the UK in mid-July for meetings at the club.
5) The South Africans have had access to the club’s books, they were granted exclusivity and underwent a due diligence process.
6) It's the closest Vincent Tan has ever been to selling the club (he stated that was a fact).
7) The alleged takeover was moving along ‘nicely’ and was ‘very far down the line’.
8) Steve Borley was significantly instrumental in the process - he was described as being ‘excellent’ in his dealings with ‘all parties’.
9) He knows the prospective new owners like Brian Barry-Murphy, and our new manager was aware that a takeover was on the cards when he took the job.
Interestingly, Si also claimed he was the first to publicly mention Gary Otto, having done so accidentally on his ‘members only’ show (whatever that may be), and he suggested the alleged South African consortium may have been involved in the process to appoint BBM.
Given what was stated at the meeting between club officials and supporters on Saturday, how much of the above do you now believe?

When last season ended I was reasonably confident that City would have a good campaign this time around provided the right kind of reinforcements were brought in, as League One is definitely a fair bit weaker than the Championship. I didn't think we needed anything particularly spectacular in terms of new signings, but it was blatantly obvious we need a lot more steel in the side and some genuine on-field leaders throughout the team.
As it stands, we have the same players who were relegated with a whimper last season, and we've lost Goutas, O'Dowda and Rinomhota. None of those players were great by Championship standards, but they would undoubtedly have been useful in League One. If they'd been replaced adequately then no worries, but they haven't been replaced at all.
I'm genuinely amazed the club hasn't signed anyone yet. On the whole, this lot lacked backbone and leadership throughout last season. League One is a considerable drop in standard, no doubt about that, but has the current squad got the necessary qualities to battle their way to promotion? I'd say that's extremely doubtful.
As regards Saturday's performance, as I posted yesterday in the Man of the Match thread:
There were some very encouraging performances and it was an enjoyable game to watch, but I have a feeling that Peterborough at home was an ideal fixture for a young and somewhat experimental City side to begin with and there will be much stiffer tests to come.
I would add the following to those observations:
There are undoubtedly some very promising young players with a good deal of natural ability in the squad now, but if the club doesn't bring in any experienced, battle-hardened on-field and dressing room leaders, I fear the season could be a wasted opportunity to bounce straight back to the Championship.

When the new Head Coach came to speak to fans who attended the SLO meeting in the middle of last month I put to him that last season`s squad lacked strength, both physical and mental. He didn`t disagree and said that anyone failing to commit such strength under him this season will simply not be selected in the squad. Despite some shortcomings which might have been expected in such a young side for the Peterborough game I think they at least showed that those strengths have been improved under his coaching.
As for new signings, he said at the same meeting that he was confident of bringing in two or three new permanent signings before the start of the season but that the loan signings he was targeting would take longer due to Premier League teams not yet finalising their squads of players. So far all we have is one goalkeeper om loan with a club option to buy him at an agreed fee if we get promoted (so uncertain to come here permanently) but at the meeting with Mehmet Dalman and Steve Borley on Saturday fans were told that signing new permanent players wanted by the Head Coach was at an advanced stage and that they were confident that three of the four targets were very likely to sign but one was doubtful (for reasons not explained)

Did Steve Borley comment on his alleged support in the imminent takeover.?

I won't believe any of that until Si says it on his podcast. Sorry Keith.....

Who is this Si?
Why is he supposed to be ITK.
Any club connections? Or is he a random fan with a podcast.?

Do you think Nathan Trott has been signed?
I assume it will happen but there has been no confirmation from the club.

I believe 2 and 3. I think 1, 4 and even 8 are possibly true. The other claims - no.

That’s more or less what I think, but I’ll say 1 believe no 1 and I think no 9 might be true as far as they could be happy with BBM. I doubt it if any of the others are true.

TBH I don't know what to believe. To rubbish Si's claims then I have to believe the information given by the club to the supporters meeting. Which side has the most credibility? Neither

Thanks Keith. I'll be a lot more optimistic of our chance of promotion if we can bring in a few experienced 'horses for courses' signings, if you know what I mean.

Interesting. Why are you amazed?
FWIW I accept all the 'takeover' statements reportedly made by Mehmet Dalman in the Saturday meetings (with press then fan groups).
But nothing he said contradicts a view that there are interested groups (Bale's, the South Africans, and a third group that Dalman says is nothing to do with him), that at least one of them made contact last December, and that there have been discussions since that initial approach.
I don't believe there has been a bid and I don't believe any of the claims of contacts with the EFL, the FAW, or individual creditors. If that is the case there have been no 'Fit & Proper Person' checks, no 'due diligence', no checking the books and no conversations with the new manager.
I have just been listening to the latest View From The Ninian podcast with Glen Williams from WOL as a guest. He is probably reliant on a small number of club sources that he trusts, but he also thinks there are three interested groups, that there have been talks, that no formal bid has been made, and that Mehmet Dalman's 'fiction' response to all the noise is true as far as it goes.
Williams also puts the likelihood of a takeover this season as 20%. A few weeks ago he would have said 50%.
I know all the health warnings about WOL - but I think it is interesting.

Most of the new information thrown into the mix throughout this process has come from highly dubious sources - including some who used to post on here. As such it is probably wise to remain very sceptical.

Has a formal bid been made? No.
Have offers been made? Yes.
There's your grey area.
How serious the offers are etc nobody knows probably not even the club know if they are serious offers or just testing the water.

Yes I saw that.
He was in Cardiff on Wednesday for his medical according to various sources (but mostly re-hashes of Danish media stories) which sound pretty reliable.
Strange that it has still not been confirmed.
If there was a problem with the medical you would think that would be known by now? There has to be a reason.
My guess it is either an issue with his contract terms (either personal terms, or maybe a change from loan to permanent?), or it is linked to Horvath's situation, or it is just more evidence that our club has got a problem making and communicating decisions?

I’ve not heard of the guy until recently but looking at his channel he does appear to have some good ideas.
Whilst it appears some of the content recently may have been exaggerated, some of the content is more nearer to the current situation than what is being reported in the local media.
He has a passion for the club and these channels are just a modern way of communicating.
We have posters on here who regularly host and participate on phone in shows and most of the discussion is about what’s already been discussed on the unofficial forums. Very predictable and not very compelling.
