Haha...I am old enough to remember standing on the Bob Bank and people around me complaining about Toshack...."all he does is stand there and score goals"....The thing is...if a player is constantly tracking back...he is not going to be sharp enough up front!!!
We don't have 18 better footballers than Colwill. If he isn't in the squad on Wednesday, it will be mental. Can't wait for 3 defensive mids and 3 strikers on the bench instead.
Colwill should be the first name on the team sheet, with a team built around him
Get a couple of midfield players like Ralls and Wintle to do the leg work and just give him the ball.
All Morison had to say was what an excellent goal
and just leave it at that.
When he comes out and says Vaulks is a f****ing prick for giving a stupid free kick away in a dangerous area I'd have more respect for him.
The more Morison opens his mouth talking about the young players the more he sounds like a complete dickhead
Rather than questioning what Colwill brings to the team defensively, we should perhaps be asking why other midfielders get in the team week after week while bringing sweet FA to the team in attack
He was bang out of order with the Isaak Davies "hindrance" comment but I don't see what the issue is here.
He was asked the question of why Colwill isn't playing more and gave an honest and constructive answer. He didn't just randomly decide to shit in the boy's kettle.
Agree with that, although there may be some similarities between Bellamy and Morison in terms of their football upbringing. I haven't taken to Morison but i agree with him when he basically says that Colwill needs to learn how to play without the ball, although that's quite obvious for most of us who have seen him. I think that Morison talks too much and it seems to me that he thinks that he can 'Out' the younger players but generally ignores the senior players performance when it comes to the verbals. I would think that they would tell him to **** off if he publicly criticised them. His relationship with the younger players is different, and don't we know it, but this argument put across by some of our supporters that just because the rest of the class isn't performing so why pick on a select few isn't really addressing the issue.
Like i said, Morison (in my opinion) needs to keep quiet on times and keep it behind closed doors, but the reality is that these young players are at a different stage developmentally, they have to prove themselves as better or what is the point in developing them if the expectation level is comparable to Vaulks and co? Morison may actually believe in them and in a strange kind of way he may believe that some tough love will do them no harm in the long run. That's obviously a guess on my part and if it is the case then it's a risky game to play. These young players have natural ability and promise, being overly critical of them isn't good in my opinion, but letting them turn into a vaulks or a bacuna and not making them understand that there is expectation on them to succeed and deliver would be a bigger crime. Whether or not Morison is going about it in the correct manner remains to be seen, he does get a bit personal.
I thought Morison’s observations were reasonable enough until he started comparing his management of Colwill with Guardiola’s management of Foden before saying: “We know what’s best for the players.”
The truth is this guy has been coaching for a couple of years and managing for just a few months, during which time his results have been mixed. To hear him speak, you’d be forgiven for thinking he was an experienced manager with a few trophies or promotions under his belt. But he’s not. Morison’s a rookie on a short-term contract at a club that is hovering just above the Championship relegation zone, and thus far he’s lost more games as a manager than he’s won.
Fair enough. That’s not how I read it, but it was a laughable comparison either way. Foden was competing for a place in a side featuring some of the best midfielders in the world. Colwill is competing for a place in a side containing Vaulks, Pack and Bacuna.
Morison knows best, though. He’s told us so.
