Mental
It was discussed in detail at the time, the same has happened with many other players including Foden, Pep has a policy you play for the team and have to work as hard without the ball as with, and they try and win the ball back almost immediately.

I don't rate Ugbo he's not a natural goal scorer, again he is in the team because he works very hard for the team and will keep running all game for the team.

Wheres the links for Foden and Grealish being lazy and they wont be getting picked then? And why are you putting up quotes from Bacary Sagna to try and prove your point? :hehe:

Grealish has talked about it in the past himself, he didn't make the team for ages and then learned, everyone knows that?

So no links of Pep slating him publically for it then?
He didnt make the team as he had to get used to the way City played ie release the ball quicker, keep it moving, receive the ball, pass the ball, stop playing for so many fouls and slowing the game down.etc

City don’t try to win the ball back straight away after they lose it though, they are more concerned with getting back into shape. Also, there’s a huge difference between the choices available to the managers of Man City and Cardiff City. Grealish, Foden and Aguero have been mentioned in this thread, well, if Pep decided that they were not working hard enough and they would be left out, he’s got alternatives with as much flair and creativity he can bring in as replacements.
With Bulut and City, we don’t have anyone close to Ramsey’s standard to come in as his replacement - especially if the manager is stating that the two players on the staff who could probably do the best job in trying to replace him are not going to be considered for a starting place.
To be fair to our manager, the first three games we played without Ramsey were won, so his team selection could be justified, but nearly all of the pluses of those three matches have been lost by one point from the next nine - the question is does the loss of creativity we have to see with Wintle as the most attacking central midfielder get fully compensated for by the improvement we see in things like tactical discipline and work rate compared to if Robinson and/or Colwill was there? After the Rotherham game, the answer would have to be yes, but now it’s not so clear cut - especially when we’re conceding from every shot our opponent has on target like we have done in our last two games.

It's common knowledge and ages ago, it's Pep's philosophy, believe what you like

We are definitely missing Ramsey, he's one best players in the League. I'm not fussy about Wintle in that position, but I can see what he is trying to do especially away, which is to keep a clean sheet and nick a goal like we did at Sunderland.
We were a bit unlucky on Saturday, Grant probably was in front of the keeper which stopped a good goal, and a couple of bits of sloppy defending, with NG making an amazing tackle to stop a second goal for them, but we created very little.
Tanner was working so hard when he came on, and I thought Colwill looked to be running and chasing a lot more than usual, maybe he'll get a game at home to Bristol?

Its all managers philosophy, tell us something we dont know, but ive yet to see many succesful managers publically call out their players for being lazy. Its the worse thing you can aim at a proffesional footballer. Warnock would do it to certain players when trying to deflect from himself, I would never agree with it.
As Fergie said most recently on the Beckham documentary, what goes on behind closed doors, stays behind closed doors. And there was no greater man manager than him.
Besides, Pep has got a lot more in the bank than Erol who? The comparison is as laughable as you trying to put up a quote from Bacary Sagna and trying palm it off as Peps to make it look like Grealish wasnt putting a shift in. And even then what Sagna meant was Grealish has to work EVEN harder than he already is to keep himself in the team because they had just signed another excellent player.

Re: Robinson and Colwill.
The problem with making comparisons with Pep is that he has quality alternatives to bring in if he wants to stop picking someone because of their workrate. Bulut doesn't.
Pushing a player to work harder is fine. Dropping them when there's no decent alternative isn't.

That is a good point
Bulut believes that his and Pep's approach of calling players out works better than Sir Alex approach of keeping it in the dressing room, there are good and bad examples of both, time will tell how good Bulut actually is?
Personally, I think modern players need a kick up the arse and prefer the Buluts approach to Hudson's arm round the shoulder and a poor response from the players, but that's personal choice.
Colwill is loved by the fans but four or five Managers have not regularly selected him, he obviously has talent, so why is he not a first-team regular?

Decent reply, Pep definitely does I added links on Bob's reply, he's done it with loads of players and it works for him, Mourhinio too, there are different styles but many top Managers call out their players and get more from them.
I know you dislike it you said the same with Morrison, but Bulut has got more from Tanner, I think he will get a bit more from Robinson and Colwill, time will tell.

Makes him right to have realised he was picking the wrong team.

Re: Robinson and Colwill.
Do people think colwill is a great player or a player with potential ?
He's 21
I hope he makes it tick for us but it's a long wait
When he's had the chance has he proved he's got what it takes ?

I think the answer is in your question

Or did he push him to get more from him? As soon as the comments came out we knew one of them would be starting soon enough.

By the time Robert Earnshaw was 21 he's made 77 appearances and scored 40 goals for us.

Maybe so, but in the process Bulut pissed away points with crap team selections.

If you mean Wintle we also won 3 on the bounce with him alongside Ralls and Siopis iincluding a very good performance against Coventry. Robinson has been out of form as shown against Watford. Meite has just come back from Injury, as is Etete so limited choice upfront.

The Coventry win was very good. We were shit at Sunderland, should have been stuffed, but pinched a late winner. We were uninspired in a routine win over dreadful Rotherham.

Sunderland win down to a solid defensive performance for sure, hence Wintle pressing from up top. But 3 wins is 3 wins. Clearly something needed to change, if it was you knowing it was Robinson or Bulut trying to push him to get more out of him to play the role. Doesn’t really matter.
