The Transfer Window Rumours thread
No doubt there will be lots of speculation in the coming days maybe keep this thread open for any news and targets that fellow posters see and hear about ?
I'll start looks like we missed out on Jordan Williams
Portsmouth have won the race to sign Barnsley defender Jordan Williams on a free transfer ahead of West Brom and Cardiff

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
We’re in for a Scottish midfielder that I’d not heard of before until ten minutes ago according to this.

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
Raheem Conte has signed a new contract with the Bluebirds
The 21-year-old has agreed a one-year deal in the Welsh capital, with the option included for a further year!

Interesting that WOL indicate that bulut and the board will sit down next week to thrash out transfer plans - if this is true I wonder what has been happening to date as surely this was one of the agreements that bulut wanted nailed down before he signed according to "sauces"

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
We should be used to football speak by now so 'nailed down' translates as please give me money now as I don't know what's happening.

That's shocking if true. Transfer plans for the summer should have started weeks ago

Shocking if you're new to Cardiff City. Shocking if you expect a decent level of foresight and planning at a football club.
Not shocking at all with this regime.

Agreed, that article came as a surprise - complacent is the word that springs to mind.

Based on recent behaviour say over the last three or four seasons it's like the board don't want success as surely they can't believe that this approach is a recipe for success - revolving door of managers, money wasted paying them off, delays in appointing managers, reliance in loans, slow or late recruitment, allowing ourselves to fall into an embargo, lack of understanding of the FFP rules, lack of communication with the fans, etc and some of these repeated as errors or misjudgements
Staggering really but as someone else said not a surprise anymore
-
Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
Still, I've heard that plans are well in hand. Can't moan about that though.

What are the chances of it being true, bearing in mind that it is WOL reporting it.
-
Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
WOL also ‘reported’ that City were in for Williams from Barnsley but further down the exact same article stated that ‘contacts at the club stated that this reported interest was wide of the mark’. They dont have a clue.

But in the absence of anything else from the club then people will fill the silence - and don't say why should the club tell us their plans as they are asking for money from us and those on the fence probably want some assurances that the shit show of recent seasons is going to change - for mugs like me I'm already in and paid up

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
Premier League interest in Cardiff midfielder Rubin Colwill. Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna among the admirers but do expect the Wales international to stay put

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
My Google-ing skills aren’t good enough to answer this.
What date did we sign our first player last summer?
The lack of activity is already killing me but I think it was still 2-3 weeks later than this?

Mozz, Shrewd is a bit over the top. Interesting would come to mind. We know nothing about this bloke as a coach. I'm always mildly perplexed when people use Superlatives in order to project their leanings, Osian Roberts is the second coming on here because he's Welsh and Cesc Fabregas said he was good. Be optimistic by all means, Positivity is welcomed, but plucking shit out of thin air.....

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
I can't see much happening until the end of the month as that's when the current financial period ends.

Quite. I can remember certain individuals declaring that Bulut signing Alex Runarsson on loan was a shrewd move as the keeper was due to be out of contract with Arsenal this summer. Turns out Runarsson was woeful and got binned by Arsenal in February.
-
Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
I hope he has lots of connections to quality players who are looking for a basket case of a club to play for.
If he has - then great - Im yet to be convinced, Im also yet to renew my season ticket.

Yeah, happens all the time. Will Vaulks was lauded by a fair few on here, although that was because he played for Wales. People just don't know, unless they're sat at home hour after hour watching crap football matches. Saying that.....

Re: As the Transfer Window Opens Today
it does feel as though we have been less than the sum of our parts in attacking for some time, so hopefully this kind of appointment will have a significant impact.
last year we had the likes of Meite, Bowler, Grant etc who have all done it at this level before and we were largely ineffective in attack

You'd hope so, although he was with a Watford side that managed to score just one goal in two games against us last season, so perhaps we shouldn't expect too much.

yes, but we should at least try to enjoy the possibility that we will be a good side now in the close season , before we are proven otherwise.

Perhaps it's just me but does anyone else get a bit underwhelmed when I find out we've missed out on signing someone who has ended up going to a team quite a bit below us in the pecking order last season?
It would be good to hear we've missed out on someone who ended up going to a side aiming for promotion, to be targeting players that are also targets for likely top sides in the division. Absolutely no disrespect to Jordon Williams, and hope he has a great career (except when he plays us, he can have a shocker then lol), but aiming for League 1 players that end up going to a side from the same division last season doesn't inspire me greatly. If that is the sort of target we are aiming for we'll get more transfers wrong than right and we're not heading up the table.

probably a load of b'llux this rumour but we are in for Michael Olise

He's just signed for Bayern Munich, hasn't he? Well, at least they're rumoured to be after him.
Mind you, if Cardiff City enter the frame it could scupper Bayern's plans... :hehe:
