I fancy a draw, strongly. A 1-1 draw.
City haven't drawn at home since 20th February 2024 - a 0-0 draw with Blackburn. The last score draw at home was 26th December 2023 - a 2-2 draw with Plymouth. Meanwhile, the last 1-1 draw at home was way back on 7th October 2023 against Watford.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v WATFORD. Match thread
We play them again at the end of the month. That's pretty unusual isn't it, 2 league matches between the same teams in the same month (barring rearranged fixtures)?

Up until the early 1920's teams used to play home/away to same team in consecutive fixtures..

Oh yeah, so almost exactly a month apart for that one too.

I didn't know that. Like a two leg cup game every week.

I’ve wondered if the teams travelled together for the holiday games. Say we played Newcastle home on Christmas Day and away on Boxing Day. All on the same train together.

Probably not as there was usually a week between games, but at Christmas teams played Christmas Day and Boxing Day, or the day after if one was a Sunday. In 1921/22 and 1922/23 City actually played West Brom at Christmas over consecutive days, so I'd be surprised if they didn't travel up and down together. Presumably the fixture placed two sides relatively close together..

That’s why I said ‘the holiday games’. They were the only games played on consecutive days.

Not convinced this game will be on. ‘Threat to life’ warnings.

Storm Darragh will hit Wales on Sat.
Amber warning of wind so far, Yellow for rain.
But those warnings are for the whole of Wales (plus parts of England and Scotland)
Check for updates tomorrow (and definitely on Sat morning!)
We may escape the worst.

Expecting the worst down here in Pembrokeshire. Battening down the hatches already.

Tom Cleverley on Omer Riza:
“Omer had a great patch with a team that were really struggling and looked destined for the bottom three, and he’s managed to turn that round,” said Cleverley.
“I think he’s still got a good record, and he is a coach I respect that I know from Watford.
“He’s actually a coach I played under, when I was returning from injury in two Under-21 games.
“I’ve coached his son too last year, so there are a few more connections than people probably know.
“He’s a thorough coach who isn’t afraid to have fresh ideas or be a little bit unorthodox.
“We’ll have to be ready to adapt on the day because he looks like he’s got a group who are playing for him.”

You will be fine . Croesy and the Colonel have gone .

Re: CARDIFF CITY v WATFORD. Match thread
It's a red warning now - worst of it should be over by kick off time, but they may well decide to err on the side of safety.

It will be off, they will not expect people to travel against the red warning

Worst over by 11am - 4 hours before kick off. I cannot see any reason for it being postponed..

Re: CARDIFF CITY v WATFORD. Match thread
Can't see game going ahead.
All Wales FA games called off.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v WATFORD. Match thread
I understand the grassroots matches being off, most in parkland and the pitches are probably a mess anyway.
Ours shouldn't be off, most of Cardiff isn't even in the red warning which is hours before kick off. If people don't want to travel then they can make their own minds up.
Are the warnings a fairly new system, like last 10, 15 years?

Sky reported all FAW matches are off and assumed EFL, too. Even if the worst is over by 11.00am ish conditions could be tricky.

A safety inspection will be held at Cardiff City Stadium at 11am tomorrow, with further updates thereafter.
The Met Office has issued a Red weather warning for Wales between 3am and 11am on matchday. We urge supporters to stay safe and refrain from travelling to Cardiff City Stadium during this period.
The Cardiff City SuperStore will now open at midday on matchday instead of the usual 10am.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v WATFORD. Match thread
got to spare a thought for our travelling fans and the Watford fans tomorrow .
You can bet if the winds are as strong as they say both bridges will be closed . Railway networks will be affected
Waiting till 11am will be too late for many
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v WATFORD. Match thread
I think they've worked out that if they wait until 11 and THEN cancel it, they can piss off the maximum number of people.
Working on the basis that the club exists predominately to troll people these days
