Re: CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY. Match thread
Should be an easy 3 points.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY. Match thread
We need to play an effective pressing game and put them under pressure. If Portsmouth and Josh Murphy can do it then so can we.
Can our novice manager and these players do it?
We have to win this.
If we sit off we won't get the points and will probably lose as we don't have the quality to pass through teams and we are defensively weak as well so an error is always there.
Work on effective team press and play a positive side looking to win. Please not Rino and Chambers in the middle again.
Should Fish start.?
Swansea are not very good but unlike Watford they will be trying the whole game.

Ticket sales going better than I thought they would.
We're almost half way through the middle tier of the Ninian Stand.. most of the tickets are £39(incl. booking) a pop too!
Only other tickets available at the moment are a couple of hundred in the family stand and then the premium tickets in the Grandstand.

TBH I am surprised how many tickets we have sold considering our home form is terrible - let's hope we turn up on Saturday like last season

Please not Rino and Chambers in the middle again.
Chambers has been our best player by a ruddy mile since he moved into midfield
Should Fish start.?
No

I have no doubt they will play like Brazil 1970 on Saturday then revert to Meh for the rest of the season
Mind you Meh would be an improvement for us
Not optimistic as per usual
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY. Match thread
Is it true that Darling and cabango are out for them? Or is it just them trying to play mind games….a big loss if so, there away form isn’t great last month or two….

This.
This is always Swansea's cup final game and they will be up for it, NQAT.

I doubt if anyone coming to this game as a ‘one off’ have any regard to our form, league position or even the result.

They are both fit and in training and will 100% start on Saturday

Except when they’re playing in an actual cup final, and they won one of those in 2013.
If this game is Swansea’s cup final, what game is Cardiff’s cup final?

I expect the Jacks have forgotten that final years ago. It was only against Bradford wasn’t it? I can’t recall. What I do know is that this is very much their cup final. They make it appear that they only exist for this fixture. Our Cup final? Do we have one?

Our cup finals were usually in the cup back in the day, although they weren't finals. I'm talking Man City, Luton, Leeds, Qpr ( when clemo left the safe open overnight...) and Swansea in the league.. :hehe:

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY. Match thread
Maybe there's been a big uptake in ticket sales cos it might be the last time we play for a while. :getscoat:

Obviously it’s us going up, remember the board have a top 6 finish in mind by the end of the season.
The appointment of Riza just goes to show how convinced they are that we’re still on track, I expect an unbeaten run with 10 wins on the bounce to start from Saturday

That should take us to at least the FA Cup quarter finals as well Ian, things are looking up :hehe:

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY. Match thread
Our cup final is Norwich away on the last day of the season where need a win and a 16 goal swing to stay up. Kanga starts up front.

If Norwich sign him, I think we have a chance

Yeah, it was only against Bradford. They'd beaten Liverpool (at Anfield) and Chelsea (at Stamford Bridge) in the earlier rounds, but it was only Bradford.
I saw my first South Wales derby on New Year's Day in 1980. City's record in league matches against the Jacks since then is:
Played 45, Won 12, Drawn 13, Lost 20, Scored 42, Conceded 65.
Meanwhile, our record against them during the last ten years is:
Played 11, Won 2, Drawn 2, Lost 7, Scored 6, Conceded 18.
Let's hope Swansea don't treat tomorrow as another cup final, as they appear a lot better at winning them than we are.

Did they? Fair play that was a good Swansea team

Liverpool were poor then, and they cheated Chelsea out of it by getting hazard sent off didn’t they?

Nobody was sent off when the Jacks won the first leg 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard was sent off with ten minutes to go in the second leg, which finished 0-0.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY. Match thread
Siopis should be back after illness.

I remember two games v Chelsea, one recently we were winning 1-0 on 80 mins, and we lost 2-1, Neil likes to mention it, another we were 3 up and drew 3-3. Never write them off

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY. Match thread
Last block of the middle Ninian has gone on sale. Only ~100 tickets left in the Family stand and ~150 on Level 4. Looking like it'll be a sell out by Saturday if the upper Ninian remains closed.

Some horrific posts over on X. Both sets of fans using images related to dead fans and players. I’ve no idea what goes on in some people’s heads!

Delete X, it’s a cesspit.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY. Match thread
Be a couple of changes with Siopis and Robinson surely back.
Only question is, who drops out for them?
My guess
Alnwick
Ng
Goutas
Daland
ODowda
Chambers
Siopis
Robertson
Wilock
Robinson
Ashford
Bluebirds 2-0

I think you might well have called it correctly.

I deleted it 2 months ago it had become what you said a complete cesspit.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY. Match thread
I deleted Twitter which was a shame as I enjoyed the football stuff
However it as others have said was a cesspit
If you’re in a pub and were listening to that vile stuff you’d just go to another pub
Same team as above though Tanner does offer more defensively than Willock and as we know they’ll have the ball 70% of the time
-

Not only is it a cesspit these days, but it also just doens't work very well any more. I know a lot of people who have deleted it lately, its basically only the bots keeping it going at this point.

I think you have to play Tanner - he's one of the only ones who actually raises their game for the Swansea game.
