Attendance for Saturday?
Had a quick look and sales seem pretty decent. Canton Stand sold out and middle 3 blocks of the Ninian nearly sold out.
I think estimates are Peterborough will bring 1,000 so could be looking at ~19k. Maybe shift a few more if the weather is decent.

Re: Attendance for Saturday?
Lot of people on hols. And British Lions kick-off at 11:00 (I know some season ticket holders who will miss it because of that). So, I reckon 17,500.
-
Re: Attendance for Saturday?
I'm going 17,501. What does the closest guesser win again?

You get to join the 4th consortium interested in taking us over.
You also get to start the rumour there’s a 4th consortium.

Cracking prize. Yeah my guess is 17,501. Or 17505 if my brunch meeting at Celtic Manor with the owners of the NY Yankees goes well on Saturday morning.

I dare say the three generations of my clan would’ve been there on Saturday regardless.
But got to admit a bit of extra interest/excitement just because it’s different.
Bring on League One

Re: Attendance for Saturday?
Season ticket holders are counted, even if they are not there, so that’s 11,600 + approximately 1,000 from Posh, that’s 12,600
Walk up, ???????, 4000, so 16,600
BUT ACTUAL ATTENDANCE, 14,300

There’s a chance to join the fourth consortium here, you can’t have two goes.
Based on the officially announced attendance, I’m guessing 15,844.
And why anybody would prefer to watch the British Lions on TV when Cardiff are kicking off a new season on your doorstep is beyond me.

Agreed, I’m a big Lions fan but Cardiff is my priority. Test series already won, get down and support the team.
I suppose the Lions may sway people that are casual followers of City, morning on the sofa watching a gruelling rugby match or 90 minutes watching players that capitulated last season.

Re: Attendance for Saturday?
I'm going for 15,319
I'd love to bag that place in a potential 4th consortium if the truth be told.

Slightly larger than Bolton's but only if you count the red bit, that probably won't be used.
remarkably I think Luton have the smallest ground in the division.

Club's post on instagram says 13,000+ season tickets sold

Luton are middle of the pack, there’s 11 teams with smaller grounds.
That’s right, we’re now in a league where Luton are no longer the plucky underdogs.

Re: Attendance for Saturday?
I'm going with 14,300.
Does anyone think that early kick-offs affect attendance (up or down)?

Well in that case, they have sold 1400 in the 2 weeks since our FLO meeting

Decent effort. Will probably end up at 14k much the same as last season.
Should mean 17k + tomorrow.

Re: Attendance for Saturday?
18,500 according to Corkey

Re: Attendance for Saturday?

Officially 19,615
I think that’s a good turn out.

Similar to what we had v Wycombe opening day last time we landed in this league, 2002/3 was it? I thought we were massive but then reality sunk in….be down to 10,000 come winter, which is still remarkable considering what the fans have to put up with

Re: Attendance for Saturday?
Who on the board is part of the 4th consortium then?

It'll depend on results. City winning will see people in the ground especially after Christmas if there's a sniff of success.
If City struggle crowds could be similar to midweek games from the last few seasons.
I'll add City have managed to maintain a larger amount of regular supporters than in the last 10 years than in previous decades.
I do wonder if a few seasons in League One would reduce that mind.
City's support for me has always been fickle.

That will be this thread’s creator, Canton Kev.
I have already done a bit of digging on this and the Canton, in Canton Kev actually refers to the Guangdong Province in Southern China.
The financial backing behind the fourth consortium is with the Alibaba group, in particular the CEO Joseph Tsai, a Taiwanese-Canadian billionaire that apparently owns the Brooklyn Nets basketball team. Worth about eleven billion US dollars, so I’d say he was absolutely caked.
The Alibaba group also owns Guangzhou Football Club in Guangdong Province (Canton) and there’s likely to be a partnership type arrangement with them, I.e. loaning of players/increasing exposure in China etc. I know for a FACT that Cardiff have already been invited to play in next year’s Guangdon-Hong Kong cup - as part of our pre-season programme - where Guangzhou FC will also play.
All they’re waiting for is the sign-off from Tan, then they will immediately sack Darren Purse!

Looks like ticket sales for Port Vale are over 2,500 looking at the ticket sales on the website

Re: Attendance for Saturday?
We had the highest attendance in the division yesterday. 11 more than Bradford.
