I didn't agree with Blakey, but I could see where he was coming from - definitely think Joel is more of a Bellamy type player than last season's Rubin, but the older brother is a completely different player this season as evidenced by the runs he was making in the closing minutes on Saturday. Going back to the first day of training, was there any City fan who was not surprised when they heard that Rubin has won the bleep tests? Rubin's a different player this season - fitter, stronger and he seems to have discovered some aerial ability from somewhere. It'll be really interesting to see the seniopr squad when it's announced because I reckon there'll be at least one City player in there, not sure it'll be Rubin though as he's being played in a very attecking role by City and Wales have a lot of cover from the top two divisions for that position.Quote:

Thing is, whenever any of us dared to criticise Colwill in recent seasons (and I know you did on a number of occasions last season), we got all sorts of complaints from those who were desperate to make excuses for him. It was a bit odd really, as he obviously wasn't performing to the levels he should have been capable of. With BBM's prompting, Colwill finally seems to be taking some real responsibility, both for his own performances and for what's going on around him. It's good to see. Let's hope he can maintain it.

They’ll have a plan on how to play (albeit not a very good one) and players will conform to what’s asked of them, or give up shake their heads and think the guy in charge is clueless
Since and including Morison I doubt anyone would think we had the right person in charge, who could help develop players to their full potential
Maybe Colwill has got the right coach at present to get the best out of him now?
I still think the right appointment at the beginning of last season would have kept us up, let’s hope that the board actually appreciated what they have and he continues to improve Colwill and the others

Colwill was apparently winning the bleep test within a week or so of BBM being appointed. As TOBW suggested, his whole on-field demeanour seems to have changed. Every excuse possible has been made for him by some of this board’s contributors - injuries, growing pains, bad management, poor coaching, the wrong tactics, unsuitable positions, opponents allegedly doubling up on him, etc. At the end of the day, the simple truth is he just hasn’t delivered, which is why his managers at both club and international level haven’t been able to trust him.
I don’t think any of us have ever doubted his natural ability, but his fitness, application, work rate and decision-making have often been questionable. We have to bear in mind that the current league season is only five games old and the standard of the opposition in League One is far from great, but Colwill is certainly looking a different player right now and a much more effective one. Let’s hope he can maintain this level of form and it’s not just another flash in the pan.
I hope Bellamy picks the grand sum of zero of our boys. He's doing a great job but if he thinks picking our kids who are playing at league one level is what Wales or the players themselves need he's in cloud cuckoo land. Maybe a couple could be in and around it for the Canada friendly and would benefit from being in the squad but they don't need their heads turning right now. They don't need the pressure of playing qualifying games in different systems, with different demands on them and Swansea, Newport and Wrexham eager to get on their back after any mistakes. Let them develop under BBM in league one and allow players playing at a higher level to worry about Wales qualifying for a World Cup. Our youngsters time for that will come.

After his game in Belgium, he’d be one of the first names on the sheet for me.
