Sir Van Morrison has accused the government of "taking our freedom" in three new songs that protest against the coronavirus lockdown.

In the lyrics, he claims scientists are "making up crooked facts" to justify measures that "enslave" the population.

"The new normal, is not normal," he sings. "We were born to be free".

He stayed apolitical all that time whilst being Northern Irish and had no issues with any infringement of freedoms caused by UK government and the respective dribbling ****ers who were the paramilitaries throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s.

Now he comes up with this? (Laughing)

    What an absolute ****ing plum!

'And it Stoned Me' is a great song mind.

Van morrison is a hugely influential artist of immense talent but he should have stepped out of the limelight bloody years ago as his flirtations with being a jehovahs witness since the late seventies and since then Christianity have turned his mind potty and his music total shite

But hes produced some fantastic stuff

Astral Weeks is a landmark album of the late sixties with sorrowful music and lyrics such as sweet thing , madame George etc

Into the mystic is a beautiful song about facing death

Come running a teenage romantic upbeat number

Some of his arrangents before he lost his marbles were staggering

Stay with me has beautiful violins

Too late to stop now is an immense album

    A real legend

But then he found jesus and he's off his cake

Van is the man. All you left liberal softies that like to be controlled herded and led by lunatics can be like sheep.
I'm with Van. Get on with life and freedom. You are all gonna die anyway.

Van Morrison can be the warm-up act for David Icke's next stand up routine.

Yes but if people can just stick to the slight restrictions for a little while longer a lot of people will live a lot longer and the restrictions wouldn’t have to be as tight.

The problem is thick people not realising if they just worse masks inside and kept their distance nothing else would really be needed. People are either too selfish or too stupid to realise this though.

When it comes to deaths per million, the U.K. and Sweden are both near the top of the chart - we're tenth and they're thirteenth. For cases per million, we're fiftieth to their thirty sixth - Sweden's record is not the disaster many thought it would be, but it's not the triumph those on the right are making it out to be either.

Sweden have got terrible numbers, plus it’s not like they’ve done nothing they’ve had restrictions even without a full lockdown which they’ve all respected a lot better than some have here.

Plus there are other factors such as population density and how socialising in the U.K. is different which have led to us being worse.

Try and understand the full story and don’t just read headlines is my advice.

I don’t want another full lockdown and I don’t think I’ll see one but stupidly and selfishness mean restrictions are needed.

Calls for Van Morrison to be stripped of Belfast city honour
    VAN.JPG

A Belfast councillor has said the local authority should revoke Sir Van Morrison's freedom of the city over his coronavirus intervention.
The musician was given the honour in 2013 in recognition of his storied career.

He has called for an end to measures which "enslave" people in a new song calling for pandemic restrictions to be lifted.

City councillor Emmet McDonough-Brown said: "Van Morrison was given the freedom of Belfast, the highest honour the city can bestow.

"His most recent lyrics undermine the guidance in place to protect lives and are ignorant of established science as we grapple with Covid-19.
