Charlton fans seem to really rate him, but he can’t be better than Smithies can he?

Can he play right back? Or even, can he play centre back?

Seems a good signing from what Charlton fans are saying. I'd have thought other positions might have took priority though.

Is this injury cover that we dont know about or is Day on his way out?
    Something strange going on here.

Smithies and Day both 30 , he's 25 perhaps a better long term prospect than Day.

He's probably a better backup than Day for this season and I expect that Smithies will leave in the summer if we don't get promoted.

Day was (is) an OKish League 2 keeper who shone in County's cup runs but could make some real howlers against L2 sides. Should never be at City. A poor distributor of the ball, weaker kick (and less accurate) than Etheridge.

This is a signing we really need because if Smithies gets injured (or form drops) we need better cover.

We have three goalies at the club already, the third being 20 years old and has a good amount of promise and the first choice arguably our player of the season last year. Not Phillips' issue he's been signed but this is perplexing.

We don't have a RB other than a player a player on loan, unlikely to be here next year, and is predominantly a RWB which we don't play with. We don't have a defensive midfielder apart from Pack who is exposed from 65-70 minutes onwards every game. Yes, we're expecting a third signing today but strongly rumoured to be CB to cover Flint going.

We're desperate for alternative option to our creative midfield issue too. Is Wilson that player? If that is his first job then we're short out wide, if not then we're still short at 10. Are we thinking Sang when he comes back from loan?

Why are we spending money on a position we don't need, blocking a youth prospect, when we have other positions more needing investment? At the moment, we are not stronger than we were last year despite spending quite a sum of money on fees and premier league loan's wages.

Are we getting a tier one academy status? That has gone awfully quiet...
