To be fair it's a work experience placement for an undergrad student, who will already be living on student loans and grants. As with most internships, I think it's the networking opportunities and exposure to the environment that are the important thing.

300 quid a month is also way more than some companies will pay.

Minimum rate is £6.40 per hour if you’re 16-17 rising to £8.60 per hour if you’re 18-21. If you are employed that is.
