Thatcher , South Yorkshire Police , Miners Strike

BBC News - Battle of Orgreave: Miners' strike violence 'orchestrated by No 10' - BBC News
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpv316l2lypo

    Corrupt bunch of tykes

SYP think it was a long time ago so let's not go there please

    Complete cover up

TV, including BBC, showed police attacked first by nasty miners who then went in on horseback and with riot snatch squads battering all in the way.....brave cops

What actually happened was miners were attacked by the police and then fought back

Channel Four did an excellent dispatches piece on it

Stitch up , all planned by Thatcher and the police

There has to be an enquiry.

Orgreave was an orchestrated police riot backed up by perjury and cover ups - and yes it did feed into the Hillsborough scandal.

The Hillsborough false reporting and cover up was done by SYP, The Sun and No 10 (with Thatcher and Bernard Ingham all over it). They used Sir Irving Patnick then the MP for Sheffield Hallam (Sheffield’s last Tory MP) as a go between.

The BBC and Channel 4 have both done recent documentaries on the miners strike and covered Orgreave. But the most recent documentary, just released, ‘An Uncivil War’ is probably the best of them.

That Welsh mp , of Ukrainian descent , is a lawyer and pushing for it to go ahead

How can these police forces be so rotten ?

It's generally the larger ones , met , south Yorkshire, west Midlands, south wales

Most coppers do a great job but the forces mentioned seem to full of bad apples and often institutionally corrupt too

Greater Manchester , John Alderton ?

    He was potty

The Welsh MP is the one who said the "Tories happy to see children killed" when they criticised the 20mph limit. I don't doubt his claims may have some merit, but it's 40 yrs ago - I doubt any inquiry would reach a decisive verdict, other than create a new wave of claim and counter-claim, plus untold Ł for the lawyers..

James Anderton I think you mean:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...known%20chiefs.

John Alderton was married to Pauline Collins and starred in 'Please Sir'.

Although there was a John Alderson from the West Country (now dead) who was 'the father of community policing'

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2011/.../john-alderson

James Anderton ('God's copper') was more than potty.

    Some facts :

iLabour PMs Callagahan and Wilson before Thatcher closed more mines than her, saying the mines had to close because the EU ruled that the UK could no longer subsidise the industry and had to buy from the cheapest supplier?

She got the sht end and finish it off unions , Labour knewit would end up as the roughest gig.

    That's a great read

I find it incredibly embarrassing that more than a few people in South Wales thought that Thatcher did a good job

She used laws that were illegally passed to batter people

My experience of South Yorkshire police in our games with Sheffield United is that they havnt changed much

The chief constable was Welsh at one point and it was baffling to hear him on the radio labelling all of us as hooligans when on the day we were there it was his officers in groups hitting supporters club travellers with batons as we were trying to get back on the coaches
