Ex man united player (not giggs) now in the running?

    Abbandanato latest tweet

"Update on @CardiffCityFC sit - tho not much of one 😂. Bilic committed to something til Jan, so unless they leave Riza in charge for a while that's problematic. Concerns over whether Selles can handle Tan. An ex Man Utd player (not Giggs) also being discussed. Moving feast this!!"

Nigel blues (of this parrish) says "So no notable progress 18 days after sacking Bulut? Argh!

We really must have someone in situ next week to work with squad ahead of 2 winnable home games in 4 days v Plymouth & Pompey.

We do need a strong experienced manager who can manage upwards as well as players and fans."

PA goes on to say in a reply "I think the initial short list was so underwhelming Nige they have spent last few days re-thinking new options. It's not ideal, but better that, & thus the delay, than appointing wrong person. Concur on the need for a strong figure who can deal with all the scrutiny - and VT!!"

Reading the thread i dont understand how the original shortlist could have been so underwhelming? How?

Have they really spent this week drawing a new shortlist? Even by CCFC standards that is ludicrous.

Odds on riza being in charge for plymouth sound favourable?

I admit John O’Shea is an interesting, but unlikely, possibility, but I’m seeing nothing to change my view that the nature of our club means that we only get B grade, at best, possible managers applying for the job and that Messrs Tan and Dalman have a Man United fetish.

It’s obvious now that no preparatory work was done on Erol Bulut’s possible successor, despite the fact that his results had been poor rhroughout 2024 and, on the face of it, we appear to be no closer to naming a successor on day seventeen I think it is now than we were on day one.

    Not a surprise really Bob.

For a club that have sacked managers regularly it's still adopting the strategy of 'pissing in the wind and see how it goes' to choosing a new manager.

I'm not sure they're capable as a club to doing it any differently?

They need to involve whoever recruits Brightons managers as they come up with a decent pick every time

They haven't a clue have they?

I wouldn't be suprised if we are no closer to a new manager than we were the day we sacked Bulut.

Michael Appleton?? Wouldn't suprise me at all if he's applied but cmon surely we can come up with better than one of the managers on a repeat recycle of in and out of a job.

I can see whoever it is being a bit meh and at least he's better than Bulut. (unless it's Michael Beale)

Cardiff could turn to League One boss
Cardiff City are said to be considering the appointment of current Reading boss Ruben Selles having gone into the international break still without a manager. The Bluebirds sacked Erol Bulut in September after a winless start to the season.
Assistant turned interim boss Omer Riza has since secured four points with a win and a draw, but it seems Cardiff will still look to appoint a new boss. According to WalesOnline, Cardiff are considering Reading and former Southampton boss Selles, along with other candidates.

And to rub salt into the wound I assume we are paying the two ex managers who are helping with this process - I'd love to know how much we have spent in tans era on manager pay offs and recruitment to replace them

There's a number of clubs who recruit managers based on the club strategy, profile and objectives (current and future). The discussion has been held before that City appear to choose managers on personal whims and pot luck.

That said, I'm not sure Tan, Dalman, Choo and anyone else on the board have a club strategy or any objectives? Fuuck knows how they perceive the club to be profile wise and to outsiders looking in?

If they do have a strategy and objectives? City look even more fuucked!

I missed the bit about concerns whether Selles can handle Tan (does that mean Tan acknowledges he's is a difficult owner who needs handling with kid gloves?).

So, if it's not going to be Bilic or Selles, I assume they're currently compiling a third list?

Have we thought about hiring a shortlist compilation consultant, to find the best shortlist compilers? Get someone to do the hard yards with that and then our emperors can sigh from their chaise longues when they're underwhelmed.

It should come as no surprise but the whole thing sounds like a piss up in a brewery gone wrong

Choo and Dalman submitting separate lists? That were both 'underwhelming'. Tan with his own ideas. Three people brought in to oversee it reporting to a mixture of Choo, Dalman and Tan.

Meanwhile we're nearly three weeks on and it sounds like we've not got as far as an interview with anyone. What a joke of a set up

He was appointed by Middlesbrough whilst Hudson was our caretaker manager. Should have approached him then.
