    So… what’s your verdict TOBW ?

The thing is they are all guessing including Abandonato. They have no clue because no one actually in the know is saying anything

    Schumaker or Seles

Without wishing to jinx it Seles would be my choice

I agree with you, Selles would see it as a step up in more ways than it just being a higher division I would have thought.

Selles had something like an 11% win rate at Southampton.

And? They were a very weak Premier League team, he's doing a great job at Reading in very trying circumstances.

    And?
Surely a managers past performance is relevant?

There have been mitigating circumstances behind Selles’ pretty ordinary record in terms of results in management in the UK and I don’t think he should be ruled out of contention because he didn’t get great results at a Premier League club that was most people’s favourite to go down when he took over. Similarly, although his results haven’t been eye catching at Reading, every time I read anything about him it’s saying that he’s done a good job in trying conditions at that club.

Seles would be jumping from the frying pan into the fire. (But presumably with a bigger contract).

He has an interesting career history for a football manager:

Probably more like the fire into the frying pan.

No way is Cardiff a bigger basket case than Reading.

We are very much a high press, high energy side with a focus on playing younger players who have the fitness to play that way. Very much based on passing rather than long ball. He likes his full backs to cut inside with the best passer in the side dropping back to control from deep.

Reminds me of that sick joke doing the rounds about 20 odd years ago.

    Q. Where do you keep wine A. Wine Cellars
Q.Where do you keep salt A. Salt Cellars
Q.Where do you keep knives A. Monica Seles

Well it was funny at the time....

He would be a gamble, one I'm not sure we should be taking at the moment.

Although, I'm interested in Pearcey's comments about a youthful team playing a high energy style (sic). That would be the polar opposite of the style Bulut's pedestrian Dad's Army was employing
