O’Dowda stars again in late, late show.

Impressive Norwich beaten by two goals in last five minutes.

Good write up as aways Bob.

Shane Duffy, who scored two own goals when he played for Blackburn down here. Weren't they very early on in the season, and didn't they make him our highest goal scorer for a short while? Or have I dreamed that up?

We were very lethargic up front for most of yesterdays game , Colwill was plodding about like he wasn't that interested . Tanner ,other than one superb move where he set up Willock had been very quiet. No one was pressing with any intent.
When Robinson was introduced we looked a totally different proposition , everyone up front started pressing Norwich's defence , it lifted the crowd and I felt we could get something from the game as there was a great atmosphere building in the ground.

Yes, you’re right, from memory,it was our fourth or fifth match of the season when Trollope was manager and I think Duffy was our leading scorer until Rickie Lambert scored two in a win at Rotherham in something like our tenth match.

The little trick to beat their wide man that Odowda showed before cutting in to feed Robinson for his goal was class

To be fair Norwich were doubling up on them both at times, giving O’Dowda more space to run. Paid off in the end

Duffy scored 2 own goals and was red carded at the end of the game. I don't think he played for Blackburn again as he joined PL Brighton 10 days later. I think the Blackburn management got the message..

Cheers Bob, I knew I wasn't dreaming. Typical City, that in the early part of the season our leading scorer was an opposition player.

I think he was top scorer until November

    Bob

If we had to rely on Kanga and Meite, anyone who scored two own goals would be our leading scorer for the season!!

    Elwood

Great write up as we all expect Bob.

Going back to about 2000, was it Lincoln and Hartlepool we beat inside 4 days, when both games we were one down after 90 minutes? Paul Brayson scored in at least one of those fight backs if not both.

Yes. Lincoln on the Saturday and Hartlepool on the following Tuesday. Brayson scored the equaliser against Lincoln, can't remember who bagged the winner, but seem to think it might have been an own goal. Bonner (cue Sludge slobbering at the mention of his name) and the lesser-spotted Kurt Nogan scored the last two against Hartlepool. If I remember correctly, Hartlepool scored in the last minute or two themselves, which looked like a winner.

We levelled after about 3 hours of injury time against Leyton Orient at home as well as getting an injury time leveller against Chesterfield. There may have been others that season as we finished it unbeaten at Ninian Park.

Funny you mention Companies House Bob in your report. I worked there 1984-85 and well remember the parties, I actually vomited slightly over a manager after drinking vodka & lime out of a pint glass!
Half the time it was all free as the ‘boss’ paid for everything.

    Norwich kept possession

    Neat and tidy

    But impressive ?

Yes it was, the winning goal against Lincoln was a strange og by their keeper I think, Kurt Nogales got the winner against Hartlepool after Mark Bonner had equalised with a very rare goal. Not got the details to hand at the moment, but I think Earnie got the first one against Hartlepool - I think you could well be right about Brayson scoring against Lincoln.

I would have been there that day, I even missed the 1-1 draw with Czechoslovakia when Robbie James scored because it was on the night of the party.

I had a similar experience with Bacardi at my first everworks Christmas party in 1974 when I worked at the South Wales Traffic Area office in Dominions Arcade. I had a pint of Bacardi and Coke that night and have been unable to drink Bacardi since - I start heaving as soon as any glass with it in gets close to my mouth.

Yes, I thought they were the best team to come here this season - wasn’t overly impressed with Sunderland, Boro and Leeds who all beat us comfortably here under Bulut.

Looking at a few post game podcasts by Norwich fans, they were worse hit by injuries and suspension than us.

After that game we went on to buy the scorer of their 2 goals one Gavin Gordon. Maybe harsh but his most memorable moment for us was taking Rio Ferdinand out in the infamous cup tie.

A very good player a couple of our regulars call him average and hardly a loss, he can cover two or more positions for us and we are better with him in the team.

His problem is injuries , not his ability

I know and we miss him a lot when he is out, maybe we have to be a bit careful and occasionally rest him with Bagan and El Ghazi filling in.
