As regards the board, South Wales Central gave 40% of it's vote to Labour in the last senedd elections but only 46% turned out to vote, so only around one in five voted for the main left-of-centre party and many of them would have been centrists or even socially conservative Labour supporters so to conclude I think the board is still disproportionately populated by raging leftard loony trokskyite commies etc

This Louise Haigh story gets more and more strange. The original so-called fraud was at worst a trivial act by a young woman to get an upgraded work phone. Otherwise it was a genuine mistake as she claims. It was all in the public domaine. She told Starmer but his henchmen have leaned on her for allegedly breaking the ministerial code with a line of argument that is so contrived it is ludicrous.

Yeah I have to say, I haven't poured over the full details but it seems a relatively trivial issue that I think is best served by an apology and a tightening of the rules if deemed necessary. A yellow card if you will. Unfortunately we live in very puritanical times in these respects and an era of seemingly zero tolerance.

What I do find odd, is that morally at least I think most would think that Rachel Reeves 'flexibility' over her CV is more deceitful, although also not a resigning matter in my opinion.

I can well believe that they may have chosen to get some of the tougher decisions out early to bite the bullet - not a bad long term tactic if it works - but in terms of popularity, has there ever been a government that has roundly lost it's popularity so rapidly?

I think most of us said so at the time, that even if the result was similar, it didn't feel like 1997, and that certainly seems to be true.

Looking at the post '97 polls, Labour went up to 63% a few months after the election. Quite extraordinary really.

early days in a parliament makes little difference to voters apparently, most floating voters vote based on the last 18 months tops before an election - so they're probably getting all the unpopular stuff out of the way first now then throw us a bone in a year or two
