I don't know if you all remember him saying he considered dignitas, he'd have been very happy today to know that this is going to be an option for people here at some point in the future. (He was following the discussions that were taking place last year)
Unsure how it would work with conditions like MND/similar but, for those who have these "death sentence" illnesses, I hope this brings them the peace of mind that this would have brought dad had he had this choice.
I know for for sure, dad would have rather that than have to try by his own means / be forced to go through the horrors of losing his dignity and independence that MND did to him. I like to think to think he'd have been happy knowing this change will be coming.
Safeguards are absolutely needed and I expect in time we'll hear more about all of it but today marks a major move forward for those who would choose to go than suffer through to the end.
