"DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN FANS WERE TOLD THE CLUB WANTED TO MODEL ITSELF ON BRIGHTON?"

Brighton are 2nd in the PL.
City are 21st in the EFL / Champ.

    That's a difference of 39 places.

    What went wrong?

Combination of bad luck, panicking and not sticking to a plan.

Brighton and Brentford have two very switched on owners, who were partly responsible for liverpools success not so long ago (or so I’m told).

We as a club just don’t have the knowledge, easy to say model on this club it that’s club but then I guess if it was easy everyone would do it.

    Vincent Tan isn't Tony Bloom.

Words are great and all but like most of the cigarette package plans out club comes out with, they are pretty meaningless.

I'm modelling myself on Dwayne Johnson, not quite gone to plan, still working on the eyebrow lift, mine just twitch.

We finished 2 points behind Brighton in our premier league season under Warnock. What if we had Sala in the team, the Chelsea offside goal and the away performance against Fulham - 3 sliding door moments in one season eh!

I think we have modelled ourselves on Brighton. Sadly it's the Brighton of the 1990's. At least we've got a ground I suppose.

I think they meant Brighton West Pier.

Brighton have employed off field people with football knowledge and above average skills. They have long term, mid term and short term planning to achieve their goals.

We are a club characterised by crisis management with no planning or football knowledge.

Tony Bloom is a good gambler (remember him on Friday Night Poker?). Vincent Tan is a bad gambler.

Maybe we should model ourselves on Brentford and scrap all our junior teams and academy?

Or maybe we shouldn't model ourselves on anyone as we will always be a few steps behind the curve and try and do our own thing.

We didn't have the squad, the manager or the hierarchy to get anywhere close to what Brighton have achieved. Do you honestly think that had we stayed in the PL under Warnock we would have somehow turned into well-run, successful club, playing classy and effective football?

    • Brighton had the squad, manager and hierarchy because of the choices that club made.

    • Do you think a well run club like Brighton would have even contemplated a manager like Warnock in the first place?

    • You get what you pay for. Brighton are Cirque du Soleil. We are Gerry Cottles.
