Thread: 15,006 in attendance last night

    15,006 in attendance last night

That’s the official number with ~150 away fans.

From a quick look that’s the lowest league crowd we’ve had since September 2016 when Trollope was in charge. 14,041 and 14,132 against Reading and Derby.

The Burton away game was one of the most toxic atmospheres I can remember. Gounongbe(?) threw his shirt into the crowd and the fans threw it back. If we lose to Stoke I can see the atmosphere home and away getting nasty.

The last time a league crowd at the CCS was lower than last night’s was 17/12/2016, a 4-3 defeat to Barnsley under Warnock. The attendance then was 14,754.

I was at that Burton game. We ran a bus for a mate’s birthday. Even Peter Whittingham was getting flustered and frustrated that day.

Ah cheers, I saw Warnock’s first few games were all higher so assumed we didn’t drop below 15k under him.

I remember that Barnsley game well, 1-0 up, 3-1 down, equalised 3-3 in the last few minutes. I said to my mate “there’s still time for a 4th”. How right I was…. Haha

I don't know if it will, I was there last night and it was basically just silence with a few groans and a few "****s sakes pass it forward"

Very apathetic, myself included, it was just dull

Whether for positive reasons or negative reasons I'm always a little 'hyper' when I get back after an evening game. I need a wine or two and an hour at least before I can even think of turning in. Last night felt as if I'd just been out for a long walk..

I remember that game well, because my Grandsons had an education in the English language that day. We were in the Family stand and behind us was an area for disabled supporters and their carers. When Barnsley scored their first, we heard a "YES! Come on Barnsley!". This excited reaction garnered quite a few frosty stares where you might have expected the Barnsley fan to have noticed and probably should have thought better to tone it down a bit.

However, when the second went in, the guy couldn't contain himself, maybe because he thought that cos he was above the Family stand he could continue unchallenged, and another round of "YES! Come on Barnsley!". This resulted in City fans sat nearer the guy to shout out words to the effect of "Why don't you F***ing Shut your F***ing mouth you F***ing, F***er. The away end is over there... either show some respect or F*** of you F***ing T**t".

It had the desired effect for their next goal, because respect was shown.

However, after we equalised, and the guy got a shed load of stick and a few more celebratory choice words from some of our fans, he did celebrate their winner in such an impressive muffled way that considering what elation he must have been experiencing was quite impressive.

Even to this day, whenever we play Barnsley I always impersonate MR. Come on Barnsley at some point during the game.

I don't think it will get nasty.

Booing maybe. As a fan base I think we've given up and are just accepting the slide.

And I'm including myself in that.

I really can't be arsed going down there at the moment. Don't think I'll go down until Swansea home.

There was some genuine dissent in the Ninian Stand after the final whistle. The players who attempted to applaud the crowd got some proper stick. Hardly widespread, but it’s the first time in a while that I’ve seen people getting genuinely angry down there.

Same thing happened at Derby away. That was widespread though, basically the whole away end giving those that dared to come over both barrels.

Re: 15,006 in attendance last night

Obviously nowhere close to the effort that many put in to go to the game week in week out, but I can count on one hand the games I have missed on Radio or TV over the last 15 years or since CCTV started broadcasting commentary and then showing the games.

I don’t think I can watch anymore after last night…it just makes me sad and angry.

I said to my daughter when the players came out at halftime it reminded me of the underrated film "semi pro".

We are the direct opposite of American fans who are brutal to their teams, for the first time I can remember they came out to silence as nobody seemed to care anymore. It was really quite surreal

Ah ok, I left after the second goal went in so missed the last minute and final whistle. There was a weird atmosphere during the game, I said to my mate that it must be weird to play in. It was almost more silent resignation than anything else. I think Preston's following being very quiet themselves had a part to play because the Canton probably would have made some noise if they were being loud

They sang an anti Swansea song quite loudly, really upset their ‘keeper. He was traumatised as were the City players.

The irony of fans wanting the players to fight, care and show up and then saying they won’t bother any more.

To be fair the fans aren't getting paid to fight, care and show up

    Exactly.

People would be entitled to criticise fans if they were being given Ł10k-Ł20k each a week, and all they did was clap, occasionally, and stumble over the words of every chant that was started.

I was told via a mate that a police woman he knows, on duty last night, was told the attendance was around 8000 .

That was pretty rough, pissing with rain too as I remember. Was it Lambert who had his shirt torn practically in half?

"Trollope for England" was the chant of the day
