Thread: The Economy

    The Economy

It's failing isn't it? With tax and interest rates going up and government spending going down, how does Securonomics (Bidenonmics without the money) work to grow the economy?

Strange reply, but all views are welcome!

The Trump derangement syndrome banter found in the Donald Trump thread is just a bit humour aimed towards the TDS crew who always fail to nail their target, reminiscent of the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote.

We need a bit of humour with a collapsing economy on the horizon.

Moat of Europe is doing very poorly and we were doing better, but not spectacularly.

That's now changed a bit. I'm not sure there is any measurement better now than before the election is there?

I just hope they are getting the bad news out the way early. I think they've put a hammer to growth though which makes everything harder.

Now there's talk of the IMF getting involved.

Talk is it? The last time they 'got involved' (in October) they revised the UK's growth forecast upwards. Bastards!

We will know we are in trouble when the ICF gets involved.

I saw the ICF in action at the tower lounge Blackpool back in the day, it was the evening of the Wales v England game 4..0 at Wrexham. Propa naughty. The brutality of the violence on display was off the scale.

Exactly. Now imagine if the ICF were sent into the bond and currency traders offices to ruffle a few feathers.

'The Elephant in the Room', 'Kicking the Can Down the Road'. etc, etc. Not sure what percentage of the population really grasp what is happening here in the UK and the Western world as a whole. Suffice to say it's all unravelling, probably quicker than expected..

    Is it ineptitude or malfeasance?

do you expect 15 years of Tory mismanagement of the economy to be undone in a few months? the current government have very little room for manoeuvre, with taxes already high, inflation too high and public services on their knees, it's clearly going to take some time to address.
perhaps rejoining the EU would be a big enough boost to the economy to get it motoring again

The worst years for economic performance were the two before the Tories came in. Caused not by Labour but by the global financial crisis. This idea of "15 tears of Tory rule" is bollocks. It doesn't work like that. Further to that we know that many many countries have had a very poor period since 2008 so clearly the causes and issues are NOT internal to the UK or isolated to us.

As for your solution, the EU has been typically growing slower, so it's a bit like saying we are driving too slow and suggesting applying the breaks to go a bit faster.

The govts in charge are responsible for trying to improve the economy but it doesn't mean they are always the cause of the issues. Just saying they are misdiagnoses the problem and misdiagnosed problems do not ever get solved!

Securonomics is the official costed economic policy of the UK government and the money markets told us where to go.

PS I don't think joining the EU would help as they are hardly doing any better.

That just doesn't make sense, it isn't a zero sum game. Us leaving the EU was bad for the UK and bad for the EU, us rejoining or realigning more closely would be good for the UK and good for the EU.

They are fakin everything up, no Brexit, no covid, just plain stupid 10-year-old's economic knowledge, let's tax businesses more and increase their costs through national insurance rises and national wage rises, oh why is inflation going up and GDP going down?

Wales are in a ten times worse mess mind, as further down the road.
