Personally I think it's a combination of totally useless and negligent 'western' government for the last 20 or so years along with the slow but inexorable growth of debt, general laziness and apathy, changing demographics as populations are aging, getting more sick, and an almost total cessation of crime prevention/detection. I don't think it's exclusive to the UK or any party. Government[s] - unless they're clever and intuitive which they aren't - have 2 options - cut spending and/or raise taxes, they'll end up having to do both, again and gain. Just to be able to pay the interest on debt. The Tories gave up, Labour will sooner than later..

Wales are in a ten times worse mess mind, as further down the road.

It's the WEF who are pushing the western nations into decline. Let's see if the Trump economic policies buck the trend as that would make an interesting case study.

Bobs right. Month on month GDP was up 0.1 in November after two equally small declines in the previous two months. Personally I think the monthly data is a bit small to read too much into it. Quarterly is obviously more comprehensive.

Inflation fell to 2.5% in December from 2.6% in November. That's good news, although it is still higher than it was from April to October.

It's right to criticise Labours start to their government IMO, but equally when better news comes through it's important to recognise it

It must take a heck of a long time for the actions of a new government to trickle through the system whatever - and teasing out what is down to them, the previous regime and global phenomena must be an extremely difficult task.
