Erol Bulut - 7 draws in 58 games
Omer Riza - 8 draws in 21 games
One remarkable feature of our results under Bulut was a bizarre reluctance to draw games. I think we had one of the lowest number of draws in our history last season. Much of this was due to us finding a few occasions to come from behind to win, or to lose - we were either come back kings or easily and deservedly beaten. From a statistical point of view, it was very unusual.
Under Riza we have drawn more games in just over a third as many games, where the number of draws is now just about on the higher side of normal. 14 games unbeaten in 21 has to be a positive and if we keep that going, survival will be a formality.
It's noticeable that we're still not a side that draws many games from being behind. Under Bulut, we had 5 score draws, squandering leads in 4 of them. We came from behind at Swansea to draw and also against Plymouth (though we also gave away the lead in that as well). Under Riza, we've given away the lead in 7 of our 8 draws, rescuing a point on only one occasion. The other time we turned around a deficit, we won, much like we did on occasions under Bulut.
The fear is that all of these draws will start becoming defeats, but if we can find a way to holding onto games when we take the lead, we were pretty decent at this under Bulut, we'll be fine this season .
