Thread: Ebou Adams

    Ebou Adams

Selected in the Second Tier team of the season so far. Not saying I was up in arms when we let him go, but he was never given a chance here.

I think Chambers is proving now a better player in a similar position

    Re: Ebou Adams

he played like one game for us, in which he made like 8 successful tackles and 5 interceptions or something ridiculous like that, went on loan to league one and stormed it and we still didn't want to keep him.

One of Morison's signings, along with Allsop, Alnwick, Kipre, Philogene, O'Dowda, Rinomhota, Robinson, Etete, Tanner. He brought in some duds, but I would have been quite happy with those last 8 in the side last night..

A year out with a torn tit

    Re: Ebou Adams

When we let him go we had a number of fairly similar defensive minded midfielders.

Think he would have done alright here but he also probably wanted to leave and we were also getting a fee.

Yes, OK. Etete is unfortunately one of those 'nothing' players. No obvious strengths yet can pass through a game not having put a foot wrong !

id argue that Adams was the only midfielder we had that offered something a bit different

Including Etete, Kaba may have got most of the goals, but Etetes form at the end of 22/23 played a big part in keeping us up. He made a good start to last season as well, but has struggled with injury for the last fifteen months or so.

Also brought Tommy doyle, Cody Drammha and Alfie doherty in on loan. Would not have minded these on the pitch last night either.

They mentioned on the EFL podcast the other day that Adams has made the highest amount of interceptions this season by some distance I think.

I also wasnt up in arms when we let him go but seems we missed out on another player with a bit of dynamism in midfield

I never rated Drameh as highly as some city fans did, i didn't rate him that highly as a footballer, although i would have him in our side right now.

I would have preferred to keep him rather than sign Sio. My only concern about Adams was that he looked like a red card magnet. It hasn't turned out that way and he has more than coped with the Championship.

Etete seems to really polarise opinion, like lots of our players.

I had high hopes for him (and even now occasionally think that he might come good) but have just become fed up with seeing him lose possession and get pushed off the ball.

Maybe he is a L1 or L2 player but I cant see how he can justify another contract with us.

You haven't seen him do much of either this season. He's only played 45 minutes.

Etete has a big few months ahead of him. He needs to play an active role between now and the end of the season or he can forget it.

His second touch of the ball usually resulted in a freekick to the opposition, as he desperately tried to win back the ball.

Steady on, Buzby. Perhaps you should have used the past tense. Became instead of become.

Phone a friend. If you have one.

Always felt he & Giles were a little overrated by some

Doyle was a proper player though

He's made the 5th most tackles in the division, 4th most blocks, and second most interceptions. most of the other players registering highly in those metrics are defenders.

For tackles + interceptions he's way clear of anyone else in the division he has 143, the next highest has 110. (the highest cardiff player has 70!)

He's highest for tackles in the middle third of the pitch and, 7th highest for tackles in the attacking third.

for per-90 stats (excluding anyone with under 10 90s, as the numbers get a lot more erratic with a small sample size)

He's second for tackles with 4.44 per 90
    19th for blocks with 1.66 per 90
    4th for interceptions with 1.97 per 90
and 1st for tackles + interceptions with 6.41 per 90.

    A very impressive season.

You look at the subsequent careers of those three players though and Id say its Doughty that is the best of the four of them, Luton arent half missing him at the moment.

Scored four (should be five) as well. Eight bookings, not great, but not bad either for someone who makes so many tackles.
