Colwill kind of hat trick takes City into last sixteen after end to end cup tie win.

Horvarth's save helps to win penalty shoot out 4-2.

Only watched 20 minutes or so of the game yesterday, and the only observation i could really make is that either team could have played a ford fiesta in midfield yesterday the amount of space both sides were leaving, Keeping it tight and shape weren't on the menu, which is fair enough in my opinion. Great goal by Colwill (the first goal)loads of composure, head up, great strike. Big credit to Hovarth for the penalty save, although that's his job. It's nice to be in the fifth round, adds a bit of interest to the season.

I think Im right in saying that Omer Riza has become the first Cardiff City manager to lead a side into the fifth round of the FA Cup since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer!

Interested to hear any opinions about Mannsverk. How did he do? What sort of player does he look like? Does he have any pace?

To answer your questions about Mannsverk. I thought he was good in the first half, but he and Ramsey were getting overrun in the second half and we only managed to get some parity in that area after they were both withdrawn. He wasn’t flashy in any way, but once or twice he showed an ability to move forward with the ball and hit decent passes out the wings. I would say that Tuerto is right mind when he says there was plenty of room in midfield. No, he didn’t look particularly quick.

He doesnt have pace, he moves around well enough. Seemed to be very good on the ball, comfortable taking it in tight situations and using it well. Im not sure who he plays alongside as hes not really physical.

Also hard to judge as others mention the midfield had so much space at times.

From what i have seen of Mannsverk on Youtube (Yes, i know,,,) he lookd likr a bit of a 'Hoover' type of player, and he looks like he does it very well. Cleans things up and moves the ball quickly. Decent positional sense in a defensive mode. A more athletic and probably better version of siopis.

And while i'm at it.... A great game for the fans to watch, players afforded time, more space, which means more time to think and be creative, create openings etc. It's just that something really pisses me off that the FA cup is somewhat devalued , as are all cup competitions. I know that the game yesterday was entertaining, but that would never have happened in a league game between these two sides. It's gone too far now, but i don't like it. The FA cup is a fantastic historical competition, and to see it being devalued by so many clubs is a bit shit in my opinion.

The kid doing the City vlog has only known the modern FA Cup where clubs treat it, particularly in the early rounds, as an unnecessary inconvenience, yet he was really thrilled at the idea of us being in the Fifth Round. So, although it surprises me, the magic of the FA Cup lives on despite what seems to the efforts of all employed within the game of football to bring about its demise.

That said, I can’t argue about the different attitude seen in Cup games compared to league ones. This was definitely the case last season when Erol Bulut would send out a side with midfielders in a back three to play in an attractive and attacking manner. It’d be be the usual grim, attritional stuff in the league game on the weekend though, no matter what the outcome of the cup match a few days earlier.

More athletic? I thought he looked far from it... solid and a far better passer of the ball and processor of the game, but as others have noted flat out slow at times.

Maybe unfair for a player who has hardly played in a couple of years, but he's only here for 4-5 months, if that's the case he needs to get up to game fitness sharpish.

Not sure where you got that idea from. Mannsverk was injured in August but played regularly throughout 2023/24.

Not in the slightest. He played 90 minutes 4 times for Ajax in 23/24 and missed 3+ months with a foot injury. The vast majority of his game time came before the transfer in Champions League qualifying so he hasn't played regularly since the end of August 2023.

    Mannsverks stats for 2023/24 campaign:

    22 apps for Molde
    14 (+1) apps for Ajax

Not the sort of appearance stats youd associate with someone who has hardly played.

I didn't see him yesterday really, thats why i said Youtube. I have no idea about the previous standard he has played at though, that's why i was slightly disparaging when i mentioned his Youtube reel. And i said that he looks more Athletic than Siopis, not is more Athletic basically, i haven't got a ****ing clue either way.....
