    Riza post Portsmouth comments

"We made it hard for ourselves early on. To go two down again is hard work. I thought after 20, 25 minutes, we were better. We created opportunities, got a goal so we stayed in the game.

"In the second half, we created opportunities and chances again that we maybe should have scored, but in general we weren't good enough. We lacked execution, we lacked bravery. We were second to a lot of stuff tonight.

"They have been really strong at home, and they're good at the things they did. We didn't stand up to the challenge. We didn't start aggressively enough, and we didn't do the basics well enough.

"I've told my players that we can do better, we can play better than that. You might have to have a fight, but once you've had a fight, you need to be able to start playing your game and applying your strengths to the game, which will cause the opposition a problem.

"When we did that, we caused them problems, but it was few and far between tonight. Like I said, to go 2-0 down, you start searching for things that are not there a little bit earlier than you want."

That's stating the bleeding obvious. He's the manager and it's his job to ensure this doesn't happen.

This guy is totally ineffective as a people manager and he has had more than enough chances.

His game management yet again delivered the wrong result.

We are not professional football managers/coaches but clearly can see the issues.

We need a capable and professional coaching setup to get the desired outcome and now we have the players to deliver this if they are properly organised.

If not then bye bye Championship.

His conclusions are usually spot on. Its just no one has the slightest idea how to put them right.

I’d agree that there’s more basic ability in this squad compared to recent seasons, but in really important away games against teams at the bottom of the table, we don’t turn up - that makes me think that we’re lacking in character, and determination. We’re easy to play against and don’t show the nous or balls to come through periods when we’re under the cosh for a ten minute period - we’ve lost on the grounds of all three promoted sides now and if you combine those three games, you don’t get a decent forty five minutes from City.

Yes we often struggle in games we have to win, although we did against Swansea but yesterday we were poor and out-battled which is hard to take, I think you are right about the lack of determination and character and not enough leaders.

We had the likes of Bamba, Morrison, Flint, and even Lee Peltier. They were all leaders. They were vocal (perhaps not Peltier, he just had a presence on the pitch).
    We don't have that now.

Thought his comments were poor. He seems to have run out of ideas.
Really have bad feeling about Bristol and the rest of the season.
