The smugeratti are out in force tonight I see. Tell me, why do you find the story John posted funny, not disgraceful, when you rail against the “elites” who really run things?

What's particularly weird is the HAH! of people acting like they're proud of X as a website, like they have a personal investment in its success. And here we have two working class guys from South Wales just absolutely over the moon to see billionaires on the other side of the world get richer, I'll never understand it

I thought Jon's post was interesting, but people perhaps don't take it entirely seriously because it's just another example of TDS.

Market slumps - idiots voting Trump wrecking the economy!

Market soars - idiots voting Trump making the mega rich richer!

    You literally can't win

Guess you mean the Hegelian Dialectic. Haven't seen any of the gifted club reference it for several years though there was a time that Gluey and Mrs Steve R seemed quite taken with it. Nice to see another devotee but what that has anything to do with the timeline mystic is anybody's guess.

I mean a few days ago he was taking some event as proof that The Freat Reset was just beginning, four years after it supposedly started. How Trump's victory fits in with this pompous bull, apart from a few meaningless cliches, we will never discover!

Icing on the 🎂 CCMB meltdown.

Just for the sensitive, no I wouldn't vote for him but just look at the opposition, no vote and Joe was forced out for her, his wife went to vote in a bright red outfit, I wouldn't be surprised if she voted repub KH was annointed by the elites, and for this alone her country folk saw right through her and her masters, her campaign was appalling and the American people in a sizeable majority said no thanks. In 2020 she was 1st out of the race with very little support, grass roots Democrats hate her and they stayed home.

TDS? Seriously? Trump wins and the rich get richer, and this is Trump Derangement Syndrome ?

No, it is just one powerful snapshot that supports the view that Trump will bring in policies that not only enrich himself but also the other mega rich players who have had a major influence on the election campaign.

Some commentators - and not just the critical thinking elite of CCMB - have presented Trump and MAGA as champions of ordinary working people, and the antithesis of the Klaus Schwab 'Bond villains' out to control the world.

But it turns out it was just the 'same old, same old' group of rich and powerful players (whether or not on the WEF guest list) who are out to use US governmental power in their own narrow interests - and stuff ordinary, working people. A Trump administration will be their vehicle to achieve it.

Musk recouping all the $ he lost on buying X, with interest?

So what did you want to happen? For the American stock markets to fall?

We probably share (no pun intended) similar views of the role of the markets in society. Personally I will never own a listed share, but I recognize millions do including millions of ordinary people and pension funds and the like. It goes without saying the rich will benefit most because they own the most shares.

But for people to present the dollar doing well and the US markets doing well as a bad thing is a tad absurd tbh, especially given their reaction to markets in the past after Brexit and the like.

As I said. You can't win. Had markets fallen you would have posted an article about how "millions of ordinary Americans see the values of their shares fall thanks to Trump"

Strange how there were those who made a financial killing after the Brexit vote as well isn’t it.

I have observed a few things about the "buffoons in between" during the 41 years that I have lived among them, among which is their immunity, gained I suppose through frequent exposure, to European condescension.

One thing that I think everyone can agree on is that the speed that they count votes is absolutely ridiculous

Two days in and California has only announced 60% of votes. Nearly no where is at 100%. What the hell is going on?

It's okay on this occasion but clearly such delays are a recipe for concerns and conspiracy theories to ferment.

You can't miscount if you count quickly.

I doubt I would have posted a commentary about the US stock market moving if it wasn't focussed on the expected policy agenda of a Trump presidency that will favour his rich oligarch mates. That was the focus of the piece. The immediate market bounce on the back of Trump's win is a financial bonus for Musk and the rest. The real payday will come after January 2025.

But they haven't just raised "in reaction to a Trump presidency that will favour his rich oligarch mates".

Sorry Jon, that's Pravda style interpretation. All the major US stock markets have been rising steadily for about a year or more. They probably peaked further yesterday and today because there was a decisive victory and a clear and stable transfer of power. Ie less uncertainty. And yeah, maybe some are optimistic of a Trump presidency? So what if they are.

So it's not just his rich oligarch mates benefiting. To suggest it is, is frankly a lie. I looked earlier and one of the top gainers were Under Armour, the sportswear company. Another was a hotel chain. Another a bank

As I said. If the markets reacted one way, you would moan. If it reacts the other way, you moan.
