Ah I see, lets make a stereotypical assumption about the poor gypo.

Actually when did you last see a poor gypo?

It's still a racist comment which the travelling community are offended by. Perhaps they don't count? We live in an ever more intolerant world. Minorities targeted more than ever before. These kind of comments from a high profile rugby player don't help.

It would appear that comments mad by this "egger" are totally and utterly acceptable. To some here.

    Strange.

I could think of several periods in history in which minorities have had a tougher time than being called nasty names Pearcey. The very fact people are up in arms over name calling is a sign of how far we've come although it is time to draw the line because that's all they are, words.

I'm sorry but did you just use the derogatory term "egger"? What kind of Neanderthal are you?

If he'd called Samson Lee a taffy bastard, would there be the same degree of faux outrage?

I don't see you complaining about the 'dirty English c*nt' comment.

I'm not really sure that is pertinent. Picking up your other point, if you called somebody "Taffy" and they did happen to get offended and wouldn't accept your apology, would their personal sensitivities make your use of that term now unacceptable?

Just talking about the rationale here, not the right or wrong of this specific case.

How is it not pertinent? Pearcey wants to see a good example set by adults/role models. Man 1 calls man 2 a bad name, man 2 gets offended. Why would we purposely leave out the part where man 1 apologises and man 2 accepts the apology if our goal is to show kids how to act in life?

And as for the "taffy" thing, if I called someone a taffy and they demanded an apology, they wouldn't get one. They might get told to grow up though.

The sanctimonious, "progessive" blog National Left covered this yesterday:

    Interesting comment (the second one):

I don't care if I am, they are just words, I've been called worse anyway, someone thought I was a Tory once.

travellers arent a race though are they? they are just dirty stinkers who want to live in vans and not ever wash. they could be from any racial background. its not racist in the slightest describing them for what they actually are.

That's not really the point I was making. I apologise If I wasn't clear.

Your faux outrage about their faux outrage aside...

The rules appear to be pretty clear on whether or not Marler committed an offence. Having said that, an apology/remorse does tend to serve people quite well in rugby. Marler also struck someone in the face with his forearm while they were lying on the floor. I am guessing England dropped him from the team because they knew this would be challenged and they didn't want it affecting their build up.

    Bloody English.
    Is it really?

    I didn't know that.

    Sorry for being English.

Are we all typing like Croesy now?

Yep. It's a compliment. Using the words of Jay Z, Steve's lucky to have you.

As for being English, if you hadn't mentioned it, I would have just assumed you were Welsh (another compliment)

Finally, Croesy is an inspiration to us all.

And now I bid you goodnight my English rose.

    Sleep tight.
