Maybe the players are more suited to Slade's tactics? They had 12 points at this stage last season and were unbeaten.

If they were so comfortable using Slade tactics then they didn't show it because after that opening 6 games they then played another 40 league games and averaged 33% less points per game than they did in the opening 6.
So you could argue that it was downhill for Slade after that bright start.

Cardiff City have been a mid-table Championship side for a large portion of my adult life. I don't see that changing anytime soon. Frankly I will be delighted if we scrape a mid-table position by the end of this season.

Look it's another negative thread from Mr pejorative himself

No No, dont criticise him, you will be on his " hit list " and he will come back with a witty retort ( or not, as is often the case )

I confess it is rather negative, but then so is the worst start to a season in more than a decade.

I don't see the formation as the problem, the issue is if you keep getting rid of players and bringing worse ones in, it's always going to be a downward spiral.

Slade also had inherited Kenwynne Jones and Joe Mason both recognised strikers and did score in those opening games , Trollope has just signed Lambert who has played 1 game for us after recognising we need a striker

They dont we sold fabio let turner go for nowt which left us without a left footed centre back sold the best goalie in the league havent got a foward with a current goal scoring record dont have two wing backs good enough to play the role.....it goes on and on

After recognising we need a striker? We all know we've needed a striker since Bothroyd left!

Also, the current crop of players are completely unsuited to the current formation. Slade got hammered for it but I'd love him back. I don't rate Trollope one bit, his buys and team selections don't make sense to me.

Over those 40 games, they were averaging more than a point a game. What's Trollope's average?

This - but Tan has to recoup £200m somehow. Just wondering, does the football club look like it's had £200m of investment on and off the pitch? On second thoughts, I'll save that question for a Swansea thread :-D

Trollope has been in charge for 6 games can't compare the 2 yet

    Exactly

Slades first 6 games in charge of Cardiff yielded a very impressive 13 points, the next 6 games 5 points and the next 6 games just 4 points.

You can't make fair comparisons on 46 game season v a block of 6 games.

If we are still averaging under a point a game after 46 games then we will be relegated.

I don't think we will be relegated and expect the points per game ratio to increase once Trollope gets his full side out and system settled.

Re: Worst start to a season for more than a decade

Simply put, City have replaced their average no1 Russell Slade, with an average no2.
Trollope was holding a half decent (not brilliant) reputation as a coach, not a manager.
I'm not in the least surprised to see us failing because promoting a no2 is always a gamble.
It's ironic that the start to the season is actually similar to a big sloppy no2.

Correction. They are an average bunch. Probably an over-hyped average bunch.

We have only had 6 games, surely we need to get to xmas before we go slating the manager and every player in the team?

No, 6 games in appear to be the benchmark

at this rate the missing fans will never come back, not till the seats in the new stand are blue, the grass is a lighter shade of green and anything else they can think of

The points totals after six league games during the last twelve seasons are as follows (managers in brackets):

    2005/06 - 5 points (Dave Jones)
    2006/07 - 13 points (Dave Jones)
    2007/08 - 7 points (Dave Jones)
    2008/09 - 10 points (Dave Jones)
    2009/10 - 10 points (Dave Jones)
    2010/11 - 13 points (Dave Jones)
    2011/12 - 11 points (Malky Mackay)
    2012/13 - 13 points (Malky Mackay)
    2013/14 - 8 points (Malky Mackay)
    2014/15 - 8 points (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer)
    2015/16 - 12 points (Russell Slade)
    2016/17 - 5 points (Paul Trollope)

It's a statement of the obvious, but a total of just five points from the first six games is none too clever after what appeared on paper to be a fairly routine set of fixtures by Championship standards (City have so far played only one side who were ranked in the top ten of the division's pre-season favourites - yesterday's opponents Norwich).
THE GRIM REAPER IS BACK.STATING THE ****ING OBVIOUS

Nope, not slating the manager and every player.

It's been my opinion that we've had an average bunch for a few seasons. I'd argue that our best squad in recent times was in 2010/11, the last side Jones had. Best not say too much about that, but in terms of attacking prowess, we've had nothing like it since. If we could have had a manager who could have developed a strategy, midfield and a plan B around that side, we'd now be top 10 in the Premier League.
